On December 24, 2020 The Directorate General of Training (DGT) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Microsoft and NASSCOM Foundation signed agreement to provide Digitized Blended content with self-learning digital tutorials and handholding from teachers for Industrial Training Institutes(ITIs) students so as to increase employability.
- This digital learning module can be accessed through the Bharat Skills platform.
- The blended digital content will benefit about 1,20,000 students in around 3000 ITIs across India.
Objective of MoU– To provide ITIs students the employability skilling program for upskilling and reskilling in order to enhance their employability
Benefits of Blended Digital Content:
Basic & Advanced Digital Skills
It will help the trainee students to learn basic digital skills that comprises, Introduction to Computers, Windows Operating System at the basic level and later to learn advanced level Microsoft Office Technologies along with Networking and Cyber Security.
Reduce Classroom Hours
It will reduce the classroom hours and student-teacher engagement. This paves way for a possibility to train double the existing number of students in Computer Operator and Programming Assistant(COPA) courses within the same infrastructure.
About Bharatskills:
i.DGT has launched an online learning platform, Bharatskills (https://bharatskills.gov.in) in October 2019.
ii.It is a central repository for skills that provide easy access to updated curriculums and course content of all courses under the Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS), Question Banks, etc., to trainees and trainers of the ITI ecosystem
iii.The students and teachers can access a centralized, scalable and prosperous support ecosystem through its industry partners, enabling them to learn the newer IR 4.0 skills to meet the demands of the industry.

The users of Bharatskills learning platform has increased from around 90,000 in March 2020 to over 16.55 Lakh as on date.
Recent MoU between DGT, Microsoft and NASSCOM Foundation
i.Recently, DGT, Microsoft and NASSCOM Foundation have signed a MoU.
ii.Under the MoU, Microsoft by linking the Global Skilling Initiative (GSI) through the Bharatskills platform, has made the free content available on Microsoft Learn platform accessible to over 24 Lakh students in the ITI ecosystem.
