Subject – Increase of road accidents due to rash driving
Sir,
I would like to express my views on the increase of road accidents which are frequent these days and the major reason for this is rash driving. Kindly include it in the columns ‘Letter to the Editor’ of your esteemed daily. Road accidents have been on the increase in the city in spite of the
precaution of the traffic authorities. The rate of road-accidents and fatality in the country is very high.
Accidents are caused are caused by the carelessness of the drivers and their ignorance and negligence of the traffic rules. Many young and innocent persons lose their lives every day.
One of the causes of the fatal accidents is rash driving. Reckless driving causes the increasing number of road accidents. The people driving often break the speed limit, especially in the night time. To be worst, some of them are even drunk. This is a menace to others road users as the car
drivers that drive at high speed might crush down whoever comes in a way.
Moreover, people often jumped the traffic light because the traffic police were not available and nobody was there to stop them when they breach the traffic rules. Although there are speed limits and police barricades but those measures are not strictly enforced by the authorities. It must be pointed out that most of the time the wrongdoers bribe the policemen and escape from punishment.
Even the truck drivers are mostly drunk and, therefore, care not a fig for traffic rules. They drive their trucks at a high speed even through congested localities, and cause accidents. I shall be grateful if you kindly give publicity to the matter so that the traffic authorities wake up to the need of security of the people and take strong measures against the erring drivers like levying heavy fines and forfeiting of licenses if found guilty of breaching the traffic rules. By addressing this issue, I hope that the public awareness towards the dangers of reckless driving can be raised.
