Subject – Views on increasing crimes against women in our city
Sir ,
I am writing this letter to express my deep concern over the increasing crimes against women in our city. It is disgraceful to come across the pathetic condition of women in India and that too when our country is moving towards prosperity and advancement in every field.
Where molestations and rapes are a usual happenings , New Delhi , the capital city continues to top the list among metropolitan cities as per the data released by the National Crime Records Bureau. Delhi accounts for the maximum number of rape cases among 19 major cities at 40% and nearly 29% of cases involving cruelty by husband and his relatives or dowry deaths.
It is agonizing that it becomes difficult and dangerous for females to travel late at night. The latest incidents which involves a cab driver molesting the female traveller is inhumane. The image created by such incidents has lowered the reputation of our city which has affected the prestige and stature of a capital city. Although offenders are being punished yet there is no decrease in such crimes.
Through Your newspaper , I would like to draw the attention of authorities and people that the time has come to raise voice against such crimes and not wait for it to happen with their mothers , sisters , daughters and wives. The Government should increase police guarding on roads and proper checking should be there on highways. Also , stringent laws should be passed and implemented against offenders. I hope you will give space to my views in your reputed and esteemed newspaper to spread awareness and concern.
