The 2022 Skytrax World Airport Awards named Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport the finest in India and South Asia for the 4th consecutive year at the ceremony conducted at Passenger Terminal EXPO in Paris,France on 16th June 2022.
- The airport rose to 37th position from 45th position in 2021, and it is the only airport from India to be featured in the world’s top 50 airports.
- Qatar’s Hamad International Airport has been named the World’s Best Airport for the 2nd year followed by Tokyo Haneda International Airport, Japan and Singapore Changi Airport.
- IGI Airport has also been declared “the cleanest airport” in India and South Asia 2022.

i.Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru (BLR Airport) has been named the Finest Regional Airport in India and South Asia.
ii.Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (Hyderabad) has been named as the ‘Best Airport Staff in India and South Asia’.
- The airport also bagged in other categories including 2nd for the Best Regional Airport in India and South Asia 2022; 3rd for cleanest airport in India and South Asia 2022; and 4th in Best Regional Airport in Asia 2022.

i.The World Airport Awards began in 1999, based on an annual global airport customer satisfaction survey assessing customer service and facilities across 500 airports.
ii.The survey questionnaires evaluating the customer experience were completed by over 100 nationalities across airports during a 9-month period from September 2021 to May 2022.
