    Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, Ministry of Steel launched the Steel Importing Monitoring System (SIMS) 2.0 portal, a dedicated portal for providing advanced information about steel imports. He also released the 2nd volume of the book, “Safety Guidelines for Iron and Steel Sector,” covering 16 processes used by the iron and steel sector.
     SIMS 2.0 was developed with contributions from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), and MSTC Limited.
     The guidelines aims to enhance safety and productivity in the iron and steel industry and this will also assists the industry in becoming world-class in adopting safety standards and eliminating accidents.
     SIMS was originally introduced in 2019 to provide detailed steel import data to the domestic industry.

    According to the latest United Nation(UN) report titled “State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World (SOFI) 2024: Financing to end hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition in all its forms”, around 733 million people faced hunger in 2023, which is equivalent to 1 in 11 people (approx. 9%) globally and 1 in 5 in Africa.
     The theme of  SOFI 2024 is “Financing to end hunger, food insecurity and all forms of malnutrition’’. This year theme draw attention to  achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)2 Zero Hunger.
     As per SOFI 2024, India is home to 194.6 million (19.5 crore) undernourished people, which is the highest in any country in the world.The report mentioned that about 13% of the population of India suffers from chronic undernourishment.
     As per the report, between 713 million and 757 million people have faced hunger in 2023, which is nearly 152 million more than in 2019 when considering the midrange of 733 million.Click here to read more

     The agreement outlines various joint activities such as: joint workshops, outreach events and the publication of new report.

     With this, He became the 2nd person to translate the holy bible to Marathi after Father Thomas Stephens (1549-1619), a britisher and 17th centrury missionary. Father Stephen authored ‘Krista Purana’, an epic poem on the life of Jesus Christ in a mix of Marathi and Konkani.
