    Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)- National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources (NBFGR), the apex institute for fish genetic resources in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, discovered a new catfish species named Glyptothorax punyabratai from the Brahmaputra River drainage in Arunachal Pradesh.
    ·         The species is named after Dr. Punyabarata Das, the founding director of ICAR-NBFGR, to commemorate his substantial contributions to fisheries research.
