On 4th December 2018, India celebrated its 47th Navy Day. The day is celebrated in honour of the maritime force’s role during the war with Pakistan in 1971 when Indian warships attacked Karachi port. It was on this day in 1971 that Indian Navy left its shores for the very first time to successfully attack Pakistan.Operation Trident, the codename for the naval attack on Karachi, is considered one of the most successful operations in the post-World War II era. The Maratha Emperor, “Chhatrapati Shivaji Bhosle” is considered as ‘Father of the Indian Navy’. The Navy showcased an impressive show of skill amid a sea of colours at the Gateway of India in Mumbai.
