The India Maritime Week (IMW) 2025, organized by Indian Ports Association (IPA) and hosted by Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways (MoPSW), was held from October 27 to 31, 2025, at NESCO Exhibition Centre in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
- The event was inaugurated by Union Minister Amit Shah, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Ministry of Cooperation.
- IMW 2025 was held under the theme titled “Uniting Oceans, One Maritime Vision”.
Highlights of India Maritime Week 2025:
Key Events: During the India Maritime Week (IMW) 2025, several key events were organized, including the 4th Global Maritime India Summit (4th GMIS), 2nd Sagarmanthan (Chintan Shivir on Ports and Shipping), Green Maritime Day (GMD), Global Maritime CEO Forum (GMCEF), QUAD Ports of the Future Partnership (QPFP), and the UNESCAP Dialogue — United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) Asia-Pacific Regional Dialogue on Sustainable Maritime Development.
PM Modi Participation: On October 29, 2025, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi chaired the Global Maritime Chief Executive Officer(CEO) Forum, the flagship event of the IMW 2025, aimed at building a sustainable, resilient, and future-ready maritime ecosystem aligned with Government of India (GoI)’s Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision (MAKV) 2047.
Initiatives launched:During the event, the government unveiled a Rs.2.2 lakh crore (≈ USD 26 billion) investment plan involving 437 new vessel orders, aimed at boosting India’s maritime strength and global competitiveness.
NMHC Logo: During the event, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, MoPSW, launched the logo of the National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC).
Maritime Excellence Achievers Awards 2025: Deendayal Port Authority(DPA), Kandla (Gujarat), won multiple awards including Port Sustainability Pioneer and Driving Maritime Innovation, while Paradip Port Authority(PPA), Paradip (Odisha) received the Best Exhibit Award for Future Port Concept.

Overview of PM Narendra Modi’s Visit to Gujarat on October 30 to 31, 2025
Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi visited Gujarat on October 30 to 31, 2025, to attend the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Celebrations, marking the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (Iron Man of India) in Ekta Nagar, Kevadia(Gujarat).
- During his visit, he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of several development projects worth over Rs 1,140 crore, dedicated to the state.
Key Projects:
Flagging off E-buses: He flagged off 25 new electric(e)-buses worth Rs.30 crore, increasing the fleet to 55 electric buses that provide free transport services for tourists in Ekta Nagar
Infrastructure Projects: Later, PM Modi inaugurated various newly completed projects including the GSEC &SSNL Quarters, constructed at a cost of Rs 56.33 crore; Birsa Munda Bhavan (worth Rs 303 crore); the Hospitality District (Phase-I) (built at a cost of Rs 54.65 crore) at Garudeshwar, among others.
Developmental Projects: During his visit, he also laid the foundation stone for 10 major development projects like: the Museum of the Royal Kingdoms of India (Rs 367.25 crore); Visitor Centre (Rs 140.45 crore); Veer Balak Udyan (Rs 90.46 crore); Travelator Extension at the Statue of Unity (Rs 27.43 crore); 24-metre-wide Ekta Nagar Colony Road (Rs.22.29 crore), Jetty Development (Rs.12.50 crore), Central Industrial Security Force(CISF) Barracks (Rs.3.48 crore), Jetty near Shoolpaneshwar Temple (Rs.12.50 crore), and the Rain Forest Project (Rs.12.85 crore) and Sports Complex (Rs 23.60 crore).
Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Celebrations: On October 31 2025, PM Narendra Modi participated in the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations and paid floral tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

UIDAI Launches ‘Aadhaar Vision 2032’ Framework to Secure Digital Identity Ecosystem
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) launched the “Aadhaar Vision 2032” a comprehensive strategic and technological roadmap aiming to future-proof India’s Aadhaar digital identity system for the next decade in October 2025.
- The initiative aims to update the strategy and technology of Aadhaar to be in line with the changing laws and new technological developments.

In October 2025, Union Minister of State (MoS) George Kurian, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying(MoFAH&D) launched the 5th Marine Fisheries Census (MFC 2025) Household Enumeration along with two digital mobile applications(apps) ‘Village-Jetty Appraisal Navigator(VyAS)–BHARAT’ and ‘VyAS–SUTRA’ at the Indian Council for Agricultural Research(ICAR)-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI)in Kochi, Kerala.
About MFC 2025 Household Enumeration :
MFC 2025: It marks a shift from paper-based surveys to a fully digital, paperless, and geo-referenced census, using mobile/tablet apps and geo-tagging for data collection.
Theme: “Smart Census, Smarter Fisheries”
Duration: The core household data collection will be carried out over 45 days, from November 3 to December 18, 2025, across India’s coastal states and union territories.
Coverage: The MFC 2025 will encompass about 1.2 million fisher households across 5,000 marine fishing villages and habitations in 13 coastal States and Union Territories(UTs), including the Andaman & Nicobar(A&N) Islands and Lakshadweep.
Applications: It is powered by a suite of multilingual Android apps developed by ICAR–CMFRI, including:
- VyAS–NAV: For validation of fishing villages and harbors.
- VyAS–BHARAT: For household and infrastructure enumeration.
- VyAS–SUTRA: For real-time supervision and monitoring of households and enumerators.
India to Host MILAN 2026, IFR, and IONS Conclave of Chiefs in Visakhapatnam, AP in February 2026
In October 2025,In October 2025, the Indian Navy(IN) announced that Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh(AP), will host three major international maritime events: International Fleet Review (IFR) 2026, Exercise MILAN 2026, and the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS) Conclave of Chiefs, from February 15 to 25, 2026.
- This will be the first time India hosts all three flagship naval events simultaneously.

Lucknow from UP, Designated as UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy under UCCN
On October 31, 2025, on the occasion of World Cities Day(WCD), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) designated Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh, UP), the city of nawabs, as a ‘Creative City of Gastronomy’ under the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN).
- The announcement was made during the ‘43rd session of UNESCO’s General Conference’ held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, placing Lucknow among 70 global gastronomy hubs.
- With this recognition, Lucknow became the second Indian city after Hyderabad (Telangana) to receive this title under the UCCN.
