On August 5, 2025, SAP Labs India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) to digitally the professionals in logistics and transport sector in India during the inauguration event of the Innovation Park of SAP Labs India in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

- This procurement would enhance the night driving capability of BMP and provide higher mobility and operational advantage to the Mechanised Infantry.
Indian Navy(IN):The AoN was granted for the procurement of Compact Autonomous Surface Craft (CASC), 8 BrahMos Fire Control System worth Rs. 650 crores, and Launchers and Upgradation of BARAK-1 Point Defence Missile System.
- It will enhance the capability of the IN for detection, classification and neutralization of threats in anti-submarine warfare missions.
Indian Air Force(IAF): For the IAF, the AoN was granted for the procurement of Mountain Radars and Upgradation of SAKSHAM/ Surface-to-air PYthon and DERby(SPYDER) Weapon System to enhance the capacity of air surveillance along and across the borders in the mountain region.
- The upgradation of SAKSHAM/ SPYDER Weapon System for integration with Integrated Air Command and Control System will enhance the capability of Air Defence.
Armed Forces: DAC granted AoN to procure 87 Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPAs) for the three-armed forces. MALE RPAs can carry multiple payloads and weapons and operate at longer ranges for long endurance missions, enhancing the round-the-clock surveillance and combat capability of the Armed Forces.
- DAC has also approved AoN for sustenance of C-17 and C-130J fleets and comprehensive annual maintenance contract of S-400 Long Range Air Defence Missile System.

- These reforms aimed at enhancing financial access, simplifying banking processes, and bolstering the reach of government-supported financial inclusion schemes.
About 3 Consumer-Centric Schemes:
Conducting doorstep banking camps: As per RBI directions, all banks will conduct doorstep banking camps from July 01, 2025 to September 30, 2025 at Panchayat level.
- The RBI announced a major outreach campaign for rural and unbanked populations to commemorate 10 years of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY).

In August 2025, IRCTC Payments Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), a Mini Ratna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) under the Ministry of Railways (MoR), has received the In-Principle Approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to operate as an Online Payment Aggregator (PA).
- This approval was granted by RBI under Payment and Settlement Systems (PSS) Act, 2007.

Axis Bank Introduces First Ever ‘Lock FD’ Feature to Prevent Term Deposits from Digital Frauds
On August 6, 2025, Axis Bank announced the launch of “Lock FD” feature, the first in the industry of banking, to protect Fixed Deposits (FDs) from digital fraud.

NCAER’s Business Confidence Index Rises to 149.4 from 139.3 in April-June of FY 26
In August 2025, the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) released the results of its Business Expectations Survey, conducted in June 2025, which covered 479 companies across six major Indian cities.
- As per the Survey, India’s Business Confidence Index (BCI) surged to 149.4 in the Quarter 1 (Q1-April-June) of the Financial Year 2025-26 (FY26), from the 139.3 in the Q4 of the FY25.

CCI Approvals on 5th August 2025On 5th August 2025, the Competition Commission of India (CCI), under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), has approved the following two proposals:
Acquisition Approval: The CCI approved the proposed acquisition of 100% stake in Noida, Uttar Pradesh (UP) based Jaiprakash Associates Limited (JAL) by New Delhi (Delhi)-based Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited (Acquirer), a wholly owned subsidiary of Dalmia Bharat Limited (DBL).
- The acquisition was proposed under the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), 2016.
- Acquisition Value: The acquisition deal was valued at Rs. 5,666 crore and was initiated in December 2022.
Acquisition Approval: The CCI approved the acquisition of 90% equity shareholding of Mumbai (Maharashtra)-based Theobroma Foods Private Limited by three private equity entities (Acquirer), namely Infinity Partners, Aqua Investments Limited, and Atreides Investments B.V., which collectively belong to the ChrysCapital Group.
- The founders are expected to retain approximately 10% ownership in the company.
- Transaction Value: The transaction is valued at Rs. 2,410 crore.
Ant Financial Sells 5.84% Stake in Paytm for Rs.3,803 CroresOn August 5, 2025, Antfin (Netherlands) Holding B.V. (formerly known as Ant Financial), a subsidiary of Alibaba Group, exited Pay Through Mobile(Paytm), a subsidiary of One97 Communications, by selling its stake of 5.84% (3.73 crore shares) for Rs.3,803 crores (approximately USD 455 million), valued at an average price of Rs.1,020 per share, through open market transactions in two slots.

ISRO Inaugurates HOPE Analog Mission in Tso Kar Valley, LadakhIn August 2025, Dr. V. Narayanan, Chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Secretary of Department of Space (DoS), formally inaugurated the Himalayan Outpost for Planetary Exploration (HOPE) analog mission set up in Tso Kar Valley, Union Territory (UT) Ladakh, situated at an altitude of 4,530 meters (m).
- The 10-day long mission, held from August 01 to 10, 2025, is designed to simulate Mars-like conditions and will serve as a testbed for future crewed missions to the Moon and beyond.
- It marks India’s first comprehensive planetary simulation designed to aid future human missions to the Moon and Mars.

Partnering National Institutions: ISRO has selected partnering national institutions for conducting experiments such as: Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) & Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB), Trivandrum (Kerala); Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Hyderabad), Telangana; IIT Bombay, Maharashtra; and the Institute for Aerospace Medicine, Bengaluru (Karnataka).
Focus Areas of Experiments: These selected institutes will examine epigenetic, genomic, physiological and psychological responses of two analog mission crew members and validate health-monitoring protocols, planetary surface operations, and refine sample collection and microbial analysis techniques.

Specifications: The habitat comprises two interconnected modules to test integrated workflows under simulation conditions.

Reason for Tso Kar Valley: The main reason for selecting Tso Kar Valley for the mission is due to its striking resemblance with early Mars, due to high Ultra Violet (UV) flux, low air pressure, cold extremes and saline permafrost.

- 6th August 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima.
About Hiroshima Day 2025:
Background: The 1st Hiroshima Day Peace Festival was held on 6 August 1947, organised by the Hiroshima Peace Festival Association to promote lasting peace and memorial of the victims of the 1945 atomic bombing.
Memorial Park: Every year on 6 August, the Memorial Service is held at the Genbaku Dome, Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, Japan.
- The Genbaku Dome is the only structure left standing after the first atomic bomb explosion on 6th August 1945. It was declared a World Heritage Site(WHS) by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) in 1996.
