MoTA Launched RPLs under Aadi Karmayogi Abhiyan in Dehradun & Bhubaneswar
In August 2025, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA) launched the Regional Process Labs (RPLs) of the Aadi Karmayogi Abhiyan– National Mission for Responsive Governance, in Dehradun(Uttarakhand) and Bhubaneswar(Odisha).
- This initiative aims to create a vibrant network of 20 lakh tribal grassroots functionaries and village-level change leaders covering: 1 lakh tribal-dominated villages, 3,000 blocks, over 550 districts across 30 States/Union Territories (UTs) of the country.
About Regional Process Labs(RPLs):
RPL: The RPLs are district-level institutional platforms established under the Aadi Karmayogi Abhiyan. The first two RPLs were launched in Ranchi, Jharkhand and Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh(MP).
3rd RPL: It will serve as a capacity-building hub for State Master Trainers (SMTs) from various States/UTs such as: Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh (HP), Jammu & Kashmir (J&K), and Uttar Pradesh (UP).
- SMTs trained at RPL in Dehradun which is the 3rd in a series of 6 RPLs, will set up State Process Labs (SPLs) in their respective states, which will further provide training to District Master Trainers (DMTs).
4th RPL: The programme features a cohort of 25 selected participants representing the states of Jharkhand, Bihar, and Odisha. It is being facilitated by the Bharat Rural Livelihoods Foundation (BRLF).

In July 2025, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change(MoEFCC) released India’s first-ever Grassland Bird Census at an official event held in Kaziranga (Assam).
- Kaziranga National Park (Assam) conducted the census from March 18 to May 25, 2025, using acoustic technology to identify and monitor various grassland bird species.

In August 2025, Sushant Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson of V.O. Chidambaranar(VOC) Port announced that VOC Port in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu (TN) has become the 1st Indian Port to successfully produce green hydrogen and achieve over 1 Mega Watt (MW) of rooftop solar power generation.

NPCI’s New UPI Rules Effective from August 1, 2025The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) issued new Unified Payments Interface (UPI) guidelines in May 2025, which came into effect on August 1, 2025. The guidelines were issued with an aim to enhance the efficiency and reliability of UPI transactions.
- The NPCI directed Payment Service Providers (PSPs) such as Googlepay (Gpay), PhonePe, and Paytm, to implement the relevant changes in their system by July 31, 2025.
Revised UPI Guidelines:
Balance Enquiry Limit: UPI users can check their bank account balance only up to 50 times per UPI application per day through manual requests. The background or automated balance queries by applications are no longer permitted.
List Account: UPI applications can check and list the linked bank accounts of the user for up to 25 times a day per application per user, to protect user privacy and control the use of backend resources.
Autopay: The guidelines have mandated to schedule all autopay executions during non-peak hours only to reduce congestion
Penalties: The non-compliance of rules by an UPI application or PSP will lead to the restriction of their access to UPI APIs, pause onboarding new users and imposing technical or regulatory penalties.

Fitch Ratings Lowers India’s GDP Growth forecast for FY26 to 6.3%
In August 2025, Fitch Ratings Inc., an American credit rating agency, released its latest report titled ‘India Corporates Credit Trends: July 2025 ’. In this report, India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth forecast for Financial Year 2025-26 (FY26) was revised downward to 6.3%, from its previous estimate of 6.4% in its Global Economic Outlook (GEO) report published in April 2025.
- The global credit rating agency cited a limited direct impact on Indian corporates from the higher tariffs imposed by the United States of America (USA) due to generally low to moderate the USA export exposure.
Key Findings:
Increase in Demand across Core Sectors: The report also highlighted that robust infrastructure spending is expected to boost the healthy demand across core sectors.
Decline in Aggregate Revenue: As per the report, combined revenue of Indian corporates is expected to decline by 3% in FY26,
GDP Projection by S&P: In August 2025, S&P Global Market Intelligence (MI) released its latest report and warned that India’s GDP could fall below 6.2% in FY26 if the 25% tariff imposed by the USA continues in effect post September 2025.
- S&P has projected India’s GDP at 6.2% for FY26 in July 2025, 30 basis points (bps) down from a GDP growth of 6.5% in FY25.

- After the merger, all branches of New India Co-operative Bank Ltd will function as branches of Saraswat Co-operative Bank Ltd.

World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) is a global campaign observed annually across the globe in the first week of August (i.e from 1st to 7th August), to raise awareness and promote action to support breastfeeding.
- WBW is coordinated annually by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA), in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

Background:
Inception: WBW was launched in 1992 to commemorate the Innocenti Declaration on the protection, promotion, and support of breastfeeding.
- This declaration was adopted during a high-level meeting held from 30th July to 1st August 1990 at the Spedale degli Innocenti in Florence, Italy.
- The 1990 meeting that led to the declaration was co-sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), based in Washington, D.C., United States of America (USA), and the Swedish International Development Authority (SIDA).
First Observance: The inaugural WBW was observed in 1992, marking the beginning of a global awareness campaign to advocate for breastfeeding as a public health priority.
