NITI Aayog Releases Report on Water Budgeting for Aspiration Blocks; Signs SoI with CFA Institute IndiaIn November 2025,  Dr. V.K. Paul, Member of the National Institution for Transforming India Aayog (NITI) Aayog, released a report titled ‘Water Budgeting in Aspirational Blocks’, a significant step for effective water management, in New Delhi, Delhi.

• NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) partnered with CFA Institute India Private Limited via a Joint Statement of Intent (SoI) in New Delhi to boost financial literacy, ethical decision-making, and governance in India’s innovation ecosystem.

Prepared by: The report was prepared by NITI Aayog in collaboration with Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) India
Water Budget: The Water Budget systematically assesses household and community water use, comparing it with available resources to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and conservation opportunities.
Varuni: The water budgeting exercise uses the web-based application(app) ‘Varuni’ to plan block-level water security, estimating demand across key sectors and accounting for multiple water sources
Pilot Exercise: The application for Water Budgeting has been piloted in 18 Aspirational Blocks across 8 agro-climatic zones of the country in 11 states and 1 Union Territory (UT).

Samsung & UN GCNI Launched DigiArivu to Strengthen Digital and STEM Education in TN
On November 19, 2025, Samsung, in partnership with the United Nations Global Compact Network India (UN GCNI), launched ‘DigiArivu – Empowering Students Through Tech’, an educational programme aimed at strengthening digital and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education in Tamil Nadu (TN).

• The initiative was launched by the Minister for School Education, Government of TN, Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, during the event held at The Anna Centenary Library, Chennai, TN.

About DigiArivu Initiative:
Coverage: Covers 10 schools located in Kancheepuram and Ranipet districts.
Beneficiaries: Expected to benefit over 3,000 students.
Design: Developed using inputs from UN GCNI research, Samsung employees, and local community members.
Infrastructure: Utilises Building as Learning Aid (BaLA) designs for interactive learning environments.
Equipment: Provides digital learning equipment for classroom integration.
STEM & Training: Integrates activity-based STEM modules with structured teacher training on digital tools and pedagogy to promote hands-on learning, strengthen conceptual understanding, and enable the adoption of interactive, technology-supported teaching practices.
Student Development: Supports holistic growth by establishing libraries, providing sports kits, offering career guidance for Class 12 students, conducting expert speaker sessions, organizing health awareness camps, and celebrating important days with community participation.

INTACH Launches Project ‘Gaja Lok’ to Honor Asian Elephants’ Bond with Humans
In November 2025, the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), under the Ministry of Culture, launched “Project Gaja-Lok: Elephant Lands and their Cultural Symbolism in Asia”, aimed at documenting and celebrating the deep cultural, historical, and ecological relationship between Asian elephants and human societies in India.

Events: Project Gaja‑Lok officially commenced with a public exhibition held from 19 to 25 November 2025, and a roundtable was conducted on 20 November 2025 at INTACH in New Delhi, Delhi.
Organizer: The events, organized by the Intangible Cultural Heritage(ICH) Division of INTACH, brought together experts, academicians, and conservationists.
Focus: The exhibition showcases the journey with artifacts, including Indus Valley seals, Bharhut railings, and Konark Temple statues.

• The Gaja-Lok Roundtable focused on topics such as human-elephant interactions, ecological challenges, ethical coexistence, and cross-border heritage collaboration.

Karnataka unveils “India ‘s First Quantum City “Blueprint in Bengaluru Tech Summit 
In November 2025, N.S. Boseraju, Science & Technology Minister of Karnataka, revealed the blueprint for India’s first-ever Quantum City(Q-City), proposed at Hesaraghatta(Karnataka), during the 28th Bengaluru Tech Summit (BTS 2025) in Bengaluru(Karnataka), under its Rs.1,000 crore Quantum Mission.

Quantum Innovation Hub: The Quantum City is planned as a comprehensive innovation hub, featuring research labs, a Quantum Hardware Park, cryogenic testing facilities, quantum cloud/data centers, and a deep-tech startup district.

Kantar’s Brandz Top 100 Most Valuable Indian Brands 2025: HDFC Bank Emerged as the Most Valuable Brand Replaces TCSIn November 2025, Kantar Group, world’s leading marketing data and analytics business, released the latest edition of ‘Kantar Brandz’s Top 100 Most Valuable Indian Brands 2025’ report. As per the report, HDFC Bank Limited, India’s largest private sector bank, has emerged as India’s most valuable brand, registering 18% Year-on-Year (Y-o-Y) growth to USD 44.99 billion, replacing Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) which slipped to 2nd position, with a total valuation of USD 44.23 billion.

• Airtel (USD 41.1 billion) and Infosys (USD 25.54 billion) ranked at 3rd and 4th positions respectively.

About Kantar BrandZ Report 2025:
Total Value Indian Brands: As per the report, the combined value of India’s 100 most valuable brands reached USD 523.5 billion (accounting nearly 13% of country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This marked a 6% Y-o-Y growth, with 34 companies witnessing increase in their brand value.
Other Top 10 Most Valuable Indian Brands: : India’s largest Public Sector Bank, State Bank of India (SBI) (ranked at 6th spot, valued at USD 18.80 billion); UltraTech Cement (ranked at 7th spot); Reliance Jio (ranked at 8th spot, valued at USD 14.05 billion); and HCL Technology (ranked at 9th spot, valued at USD 12.82 billion) and Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) (ranked at 10th spot, valued at USD 10.34 billion).
Fastest-Rising Brand: Zomato, Online Food company, continued to be the fastest-rising brand for the second consecutive year, jumping 10 places to 21st spot and approximately doubling its brand value to USD 6 billion.
Top 5 Biggest Gainers: The report revealed that travel brands like luxury hotel brand Taj (ranked at 43rd spot; valued at USD 2.9 billion, +55%); India’s largest airline IndiGo (ranked at 24th spot; USD 5.1 billion; +42%) emerged among this year’s biggest gainers.

USA Approves the Supply of FGM-148 Javelin ATGM & M982A1 Excalibur Projectile Worth USD 93 Million to IndiaOn November 19, 2025, The United States of America (USA) approved the supply of 100 FGM-148 Javelin Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) worth USD 45.7 million and up to 216 rounds of Excalibur M982A1 precision-guided artillery projectiles worth USD 47.1 million, totaling to USD 93 million to India.

• The move enhances the precision-strike artillery capability and anti-armor defenses of India.

About FGM-148 Javelin ATGM:
Overview: It is a shoulder-fired, fire-and-forget ATGM, jointly developed by Raytheon Missiles & Defense and Lockheed Martin (USA). It is designed to destroy heavily armoured vehicles, bunkers, buildings, and low-flying helicopters.

• The missile weighs 22.3 Kilogram (Kg) and can reach over 4 Km.

Features: The missile uses Imaging Infrared (IIR) seeker, enabling the soldier to fire and immediately relocate. It is equipped with a tandem High-Explosive Anti-Tank (HEAT) warhead and effective against modern armour and explosive reactive armour (ERA).

• The Command Launch Unit (CLU) provides thermal imaging, enabling soldiers to see and engage targets in day or night conditions.

About M982A1 Excalibur Projectile:
Overview: It is a Geographic Positioning System (GPS)-guided, extended-range 155-millimetre (mm) artillery shell, jointly developed by Raytheon and BAE Systems Bofors (USA). It is designed for high-precision, long-range strikes with minimal collateral damage.
Features: It uses GPS and Inertial Navigation System (INS) guidance and is accurate with a Circular Error Probable (CEP) of less than 2 metres (m). The shell, with a range of 40-50 Km, is equipped with a unitary high-explosive (HE) warhead.

RBI Approves PayGlocal and Infibeam Avenues as Cross‑Border and Physical Payment Aggregators
In November 2025, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) approved PayGlocal to operate as an online Payment Aggregator – Cross Border Inward & Outward (PA‑CB‑I&O) and Infibeam Avenues as a Payment Aggregator-Physical (PA-P), further reshaping India’s digital payments landscape.”

PayGlocal Gets PA-CB-I&O Licence:
Previous Licence: The approval follows PayGlocal’s earlier RBI authorisation as an online Payment Aggregator (PA‑O), which was granted in September 2024.
Purpose & Function: The licence allows PayGlocal to manage CB e‑commerce payments, enabling Indian exporters, freelancers, and enterprises to receive global payments.
Infibeam Avenues Gets PA-P:
Approval: Infibeam Avenues received the final approval from RBI to operate PA-P under the Payment and Settlement Systems (PSS) Act, 2007.
Services: The approval allows the company to provide offline payment aggregation via Point of Sale (PoS) devices, complementing its existing online licence.
Existing Licences:This is Infibeam Avenues’ 4th RBI licence under the CCAvenue brand, adding to its existing licences for online PA, Prepaid Payment Instruments(PPI), and Bharat Bill Pay Operating Unit (BBPOU).

RBI Updates Alert List of Unauthorised Forex Trading Platforms
On 19 November 2025, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) updated its ‘Alert List’ by adding seven new unauthorised forex trading platforms, bringing the total to 95.

• These platforms are not permitted to conduct foreign exchange transactions under the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999 (FEMA), nor permitted to run electronic trading platforms (ETPs) under the Electronic Trading Platforms(ETP) (Reserve Bank) Directions, 2018.

About RBI Alert List:
Newly Added Entities: The seven entities added to the Alert List are Starnet FX (www.starnetfx.com), CapPlace (www.capplace.com), Mirrox (www.mirrox.com), Fusion Markets (www.fusionmarkets.com), Trive (www.trive.com), NXG Markets (www.nxgmarkets.com) and Nord FX (www.nordfx.com).
Public Advisory: It was issued to protect investors from unauthorised platforms offering free training or demo trading, and to encourage reporting of any suspicious activity to the RBI or relevant consumer protection authorities.
Regulatory Framework: Forex trading is governed by the Master Direction – RBI (Electronic Trading Platforms) Directions, 2025, which aims to protect investors from unauthorised activities, misleading promotions, and fraudulent schemes.

Nitish Kumar Sworn-in as Bihar’s CM for Record 10th TimeIn November 2025, the President of Janata Dal (United) JD(U) party,  Nitish Kumar officially sworn-in as the Chief Minister (CM) of Bihar for a record 10th time, after his party and its alliance partners under BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA)  won the 2025 Bihar state assembly elections.

•   Later, he was unanimously elected as leader of both the JD(U) legislature party and NDA legislature party.
• With this, Kumar continues to be one of the longest-serving CMs in India as he has been in power for nearly 2 decades, except a brief 9-month gap in 2014-15.

Oath Administered by: The Governor of Bihar, Arif Mohammad Khan administered the oath of office and secrecy to Nitish Kumar and his 26 Council of Ministers during the swearing-in ceremony held at Gandhi Maidan (in Patna, Bihar) which has previously hosted his inaugurations in 2005, 2010 and 2015.
Deputy CMs: Apart from Nitish Kumar, leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha also took oath as Deputy CMs of Bihar for the 2nd time.

Govt Appoints Sandhip Pradhan as Whole – Time Member of SEBI
In November 2025, the Government of India (GoI) appointed Indian Revenue Service(IRS) officer Sandhip Pradhan, as a Whole-Time Member (WTM) of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for a three-year term from the date of taking charge.

• He replaces Ashwani Bhatia, who demitted office in May 2025.
• With his appointment, SEBI now has three WTM, joining Amarjeet Singh and Kamlesh Chandra Varshney.

About Sandhip Pradhan:
Profile: He is an IRS (Income Tax) officer from the 1990 batch.
Current Role: He is currently serving as the Director General(DG) of Income Tax (Investigation), Pune(Maharashtra).
Previous Services: Prior to this role, he served as Director General(DG) of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) from 2019 to September 2024, and has also been associated with the Khelo India programme and also served as Additional Commissioner of Income Tax in Pune and as Commissioner in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

India’s First Commercially Built PSLV Set to Launch Oceansat Satellite in 2026In November 2025, Dr. V. Narayanan, Chairman, Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) announced the launch of the Oceansat Satellite into orbit by the first commercially built Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV)-PSLV N1 rocket in 2026 at the 7th India Manufacturing Show (IMS) 2025 held in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

• He also unveiled the plan to transfer 50% of PSLV development to an Indian Industry consortium, led by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Larsen and Toubro Limited (L&T).

Background: In 2022, ISRO under the commercialisation initiative led by New Space India Ltd (NSIL) signed a contract with the HAL and L&T consortium for the end-to-end production of five PSLV-XL rockets, marking the full industry-led manufacturing of PSLV, with an aim to focus more on advanced missions and Research and Development (R&D).

• Earlier, PSLV was wholly manufactured by ISRO.

Role of Entities: As per the contract, the consortium handles different stages such as manufacturing, integration of the full rocket, avionics, testing, and launch support.

• ISRO provides technology and design, final mission clearance, and launch infrastructure.

Alignment: The move aligns with the Government of India (GOI)’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) in the space sector.
About PSLV: It is a four-stage launch vehicle with alternating solid and liquid propulsion and includes six extended strap-on boosters characteristics of the PSLV-XL variant, giving it higher lift capacity.

NASA, SpaceX Launches ‘Sentinel-6B’ Satellite to Monitor Earth’s OceansIn November 2025, ‘Copernicus Sentinel-6B’, an earth observation satellite, jointly developed by American space agency i.e. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and European partners, was successfully launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon-9 rocket from Launch Complex 4 East at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, the United States of America (USA).

• It is the second satellite in the Copernicus Sentinel‑6/Jason‑Continuity of Service(CS) mission launched by a Falcon 9 rocket, following the launch of Sentinel‑6 Michael Freilich in November 2020.

About Sentinel-B Satellite:
Joint Mission: These sentinel satellites were developed as part of collaboration between NASA, European Space Agency (ESA) of the European Union (EU), European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT), and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

• The project received funding from the European Commission and technical support from the French space agency CNES (Centre National d’Études Spatiales).

Key Objective: Sentinel‑6B, together with its twin Sentinel‑6 Michael Freilich, will collect data covering about 90% of the Earth’s oceans, with the objective of measuring global sea levels, atmospheric temperature, and humidity.
Orbit & Reference Role: When Sentinel‑6B reaches its designated orbit, it will follow Sentinel‑6 Michael Freilich by 30 seconds for cross-calibration.

• Afterward, Michael Freilich will move to a different orbit, and Sentinel‑6B will assume the role of official reference satellite, orbiting Earth 13 times a day at 830 miles (1,336 km).

Sarayu Velpula Becomes India’s 26th Woman GrandmasterIn November 2025, 19-year-old Sarayu Velpula from Warangal (Telangana) became India’s 26th Woman Grandmaster (WGM) after securing her final Woman Grandmaster norm at the First League of Central Serbia 2025, which was held from 4 to 12 October 2025 in Novi Pazar, Serbia.

Career Achievements of Sarayu Velpula:
Early Success: Won the National Under-13 Girls Championship (2019) and later secured runner-up finishes at the National Under-17 Girls (2023) and National Junior Girls Championship (2024).
Breakthrough Norms: Achieved her first Woman International Master (WIM), WGM, and International Master (IM) norms at the Pontevedra Masters 2023, scoring 6.5/9 with a 2575 performance rating and crossing the 2300 mark with a published rating of 2386.
WGM Title: Completed her second WGM norm at the Paris IdF Masters (2025) and her final WGM norm at the First League of Central Serbia (2025), becoming India’s 26th Woman Grandmaster.

Naturopathy Day 2025 – November 18 National Naturopathy Day is observed on 18 November each year in India to promote holistic wellbeing through the naturopathy system that blends modern care with traditional natural therapies.

• 18th November 2025 marks the observance of the 8th National Naturopathy Day.

Background: 
Declaration: The Ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa Rigpa, and Homoeopathy) in 2018 officially designated 18 November of every year as National Naturopathy Day.
First Observance: The inaugural National Naturopathy Day was celebrated on 18 November 2018.
Organiser: This annual observance is spearheaded by the Ministry of AYUSH.
Significance of Date: On 18 November 1945, Mahatma Gandhi was appointed lifetime Chairman of the All India Nature Cure Foundation Trust and signed the deed to make naturopathy benefits accessible to all sections of society.

Definition: Naturopathy, also called naturopathic medicine, is a holistic system of health care that focuses on using natural agents and physical methods to treat diseases.
Drug Free: It is a drug-free system that uses natural remedies to promote self-healing, avoiding surgery and conventional medicine
2025 Events:
Event: On 18 November 2025, the 8th Naturopathy Day celebrations was held at Nisarg Gram, Yewalewadi, Pune(Maharashtra), emphasizing holistic health and living in harmony with nature.
Chief Guest: Union Minister of State(MoS) (Independent Charge, IC) Prataprao Jadhav, Ministry of AYUSHattended as Guest of Honour.

• The event was also attended by Dr. Kavita Jain, Joint Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH; Suchita Joshi, Postmaster General, Pune Region; and Amrendra Singh, Director-in-Charge of the National Institute of Naturopathy (NIN).

Highlights: During the event, books published by the NIN were released, along with a special commemorative postal stamp dedicated to the NIN.

First Observance: The first World Antibiotic Awareness Week was held from 16–22 November 2015.
Renaming: Since 2020, the event has been observed as “World Antimicrobial Awareness Week”.
2025 Event: 
Global Event: The Quadripartite Organisations FAO, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), WHO and World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) led the 2025 campaign under the One Health approach.
National Event: On 18 November 2025, Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) launched the second version of the National Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance 2025–2029 (NAP-AMR 2.0) in New Delhi (Delhi), during World AMR Awareness Week (WAAW) 2025.

Global Prevalence Among Girls: Around 120 million girls under 20 have experienced forced sexual contact. Among children under 18, prevalence ranges from 8–31% for girls and 3–17% for boys.
Exposure to Domestic Violence: 1 in 4 children under 5 live with a mother who is a victim of intimate partner violence.
India’s Contribution of Child Protection:
POCSO Act: The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 safeguards children from sexual assault, harassment and exploitation and safety measure by India and it mandates child-friendly procedures, speedy trials, and mandatory reporting of offences, in case of any imprisonment.
