Council of Scientific & Industrial Research – Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-CMERI) , Durgapur has developed two mobile indoor disinfection sprayer units Battery Powered Disinfectant Sprayer (BPDS) and Pneumatically Operated Mobile Indoor Disinfection (POMID) for cleaning and disinfecting pathogenic micro organism.
i.The BPDS and POMID can be used to clean and disinfect the frequently accessed surfaces like tables, door knobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, heyboads, toilets, faucets, sinks and cardboards.
ii.This helps in reducing transmitting risk of coronavirus to the people who have more contact with the surfaces.
iii.The sprayer systems of BPDS and POMID are designed with two stage spraying units and two individual storage to clean and disinfect the indoor areas by the number of fixed and flexible nozzles in the lower and upper tiers.The sprayers are equipped with mopping features and extendable arms for reaching hidden areas and clean thoroughly.
iv.The device also has an industrial variant of the Disinfectant sprayed for heavy usage and to cover larger areas with specific volume of disinfectant.
v.The parameters of determining the effectiveness of the sprayed disinfectant are the particle size and the number of particles of disinfectant.
vi.Incorporation of 360 degree coverage of disinfectants and cleaning spray in compact autonomous devices are usage in schools and homes are the next stage of development for these devices.
vii.These devices can be used beyond the COVID-19 situation like the cases of influenza and the future orientation of hygiene and health care devices.
viii.The BPDS Technologies can be transferred to Power Tech Mining Pvt Ltd for commercialization.
