West Indies cricket team toured India for 3 One-Day Internationals (ODI) and 3 Twenty-20 Internationals (T20I) in February,2022. It was a complete whitewash series win for India over West Indies in both ODI and T20I by the full-time Indian Captain Rohit Sharma.
- In the ODI cricket, India defeated West Indies by 3-0 and in the T20I cricket, India defeated West Indies by 3-0.
Venue:
The venue for the ODI’s was Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, Gujarat (which is the world’s largest cricket stadium) and the venue for the T20I’s was Eden Gardens, Kolkata, West Bengal.
Records of Indian Cricket Team:
i.The Indian Cricket Team is the first ever team to play 1000 ODI matches, followed by Australia which played 958 ODI matches.
Team India registered its 1000th ODI match with a 6 wicket win against West Indies, in the first match of the ODI series 2022.
ii.Also, the Indian cricket team became the second team to win 100 T20I matches followed by Pakistan.
Team India registered its 100th T20I win against West Indies in the 2nd match of T20I series 2022, defeating West Indies by 8 runs.
iii.India secured International Cricket Council (ICC) No.1 Rank (10484 points) in T20I after the win against West Indies.

i.Deepak Hooda, debuted for the Indian cricket team in the ODI.
ii.Ravi Bishnoi and Avesh Khan debuted for the Indian cricket team in T20I.
Man of the Series in the West Indies Tour of India – 2022:Â
i.Prasidh Krishna was adjudged Man of the Series in ODI’s for his exceptional wicket taking performance (9 wickets).
ii.Suryakumar Yadav was adjudged Man of the Series for India in T20I’s for his batting performance (107 runs).
Records Of Rohit Sharma Captaincy:
i.India under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, claims the T20I crown for the first time in six years, last time India held the ranking was under the leadership of MS Dhoni in early 2016.
ii.This was also India’s sixth whitewash win in a bilateral T20I, four of which came under the leadership of Rohit.Â
iii.Rohit hence became the first Indian captain, and fifth overall in world cricket, to win consecutive bilateral T20I series (minimum 3 matches).
iv.Rohit also surpassed Kohli to take the second spot in the list of most wins for a captain in T20Is at home. It was Rohit’s 14th win in 15 games on home soil. Eoin Morgan and Kane Williamson hold the top spot with 15 wins each.
v.Rohit also equalled Sarfaraz Ahmed (Former Pakistan Captain) record of nine consecutive T20I wins as a skipper.
