The President of COP 26 (Conference of the Parties), Alok Sharma was on a visit to India on July 21-22, 2022, during which NITI (National Institution for Transforming India) Aayog launched two significant UK (United Kingdom)-NITI Aayog collaborative initiatives viz.
- E-AMRIT (Accelerated e-Mobility Revolution for India’s Transportation) mobile application to raise awareness on electric mobility
- Report on Advanced Chemistry Cell Battery Reuse and Recycling Market in India.
These were launched by COP 26 President Alok Sharma, Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog Mr Suman Bery, and CEO of NITI Aayog Mr Parameswaran Iyer.

About Report on Advanced Chemistry Cell Battery Reuse and Recycling Market in India:-

i.India is among 42 leaders to back and sign up to UK’s Glasgow Breakthroughs, launched at the COP26 climate summit held at Glasgow, Scotland, UK in 2021.
ii.India is also a co-convener of the Glasgow Breakthrough on Road Transport, together with the UK and the US (United States).
iii.The Breakthrough on Road Transport aims to make Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEVs), including 2&3 wheelers, cars, vans and Heavy-Duty Vehicle, affordable, accessible and sustainable in all regions by 2030.
- The shift to ZEV will create 100,000 new e-mobility jobs, decrease technology costs, make air cleaner, and reduce reliance on imported fuels.
iv.NITI Aayog has been collaborating with the UK Government to boost low carbon infrastructure in the areas of e-vehicles, charging infrastructure and battery storage.
v.India is the 5th largest and fastest growing vehicle market in the world, providing massive potential for electric vehicle uptake.
