Colombia government, FARC rebels signed historic ceasefire

The Colombian government and Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) rebels signed an armistice and demilitarization agreement

Purpose of the Agreement: Ended Latin America’s longest war happened in its coca rich forests and hills

Signed between: President of Colombia Juan Manuel Santos and FARC leader Timoleon Jimenez

  • Within six months of time, The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) must give up their weapons to United Nations
  • About 7000 members of FARC were gathered in normalization zones for demilitarization process
