On October 27, 2020 Cochin Shipyard Limited and Fincantieri S.P.A. of Italy virtually signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) for cooperation in the areas of Design, Ship Building, Ship Repair, Marine Equipment Manufacturing and also for Training & Skill Development.
Bejoy Bhasker, Director (Technical) of Cochin Shipyard Ltd and Achille Fulfaro, Senior Vice President (Sales) of Fincantieri S.P.A. , Naval Vessel Business Unit signed the agreement through a video conference.
About the Agreement:
i.The agreement enables a strategic partnership that aims at business growth for mutual benefit and potential indigenization in the identified areas of cooperation in accordance with the Govt of India’s vision namely, ’Atma Nirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India’.
ii.The agreement will initiate the development of advanced solutions in strategic advanced sectors in India, which aims to offer the latest technology products for Indians and for global markets.
i.Cochin Shipyard Ltd is a leading yard in Ship Building and Ship Repair, both on the Commercial & Defence fronts.
ii.It is the largest shipbuilding and maintenance facility in India. It has facilities both on the East and West coast of India.
iii.Fincantieri S.P.A. is one of the world’s largest shipbuilding groups.
iv.It is a leader in diversification and innovation. It has built over 7,000 vessels. It operates 18 shipyards in four continents.
