Coal India Limited (CIL),an Indian state-owned coal mining and refinery company, has entered into the partnership with NITI (National Institution for Transforming India) Aayog’s flagship initiative Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), to actively support the latter’s key innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives across India.
- A Statement of Intent (SoI) between the CIL’s Director (Technical) Binay Dayal and AIM’s Mission Director R Ramanan, was signed and exchanged in a virtual e-summit for the same on June 19, 2020.
Various initiatives of AIM:
AIM has various initiatives such as Atal Tinkering Labs (ATL) at school level, Atal Incubation Center (AIC) at institutional levels, Atal Community Innovation Center (ACIC) for Tier-2, Tier-3 cities and rural India, Atal New India Challenge (ANIC), Atal Community Innovation Centers (ACIC), and Atal Research & Innovation for Small Enterprises (ARISE) to encourage innovations in the MSME industry.
Benefits of the partnership:
- The tie up will help the talented youth of our country to develop great innovations that have not developed or fallen short and thus enable them to have a AtmaNirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India). This will also create employment at the local level in the coming years.
- According to the SOI, the partnership is classified according to the program in which CIL has agreed for adoption of select ATLs Schools & will conduct teacher training sessions to students.
- Similarly, CIL adopts and helps the ACIC in the vicinity of its areas of operation, helping the youth working in the field of social innovation and it has agreed to organize community innovation challenges and other innovation-based programs to promote the impact of building innovation ecology in under-developed regions.
Atal Innovation Mission:
It is a flagship initiative created by the NITI Aayog to boost innovation & entrepreneurship across the length and breadth of the country, based on a detailed study on innovation and entrepreneurial needs of India in coming years.
