On November 10, 2020, World Number One Chen Meng (China) defeated Sun Yingsha (China) to win the 2020 Dishang ITTF (International Table Tennis Federation) World Cup Title (Gold Medal) held at Weihai, China. It is her First ITTF Women’s World Cup title. This is the First Table Tennis tournament after 8 months due to the covid-19 pandemic & Chen Meng becomes the 1st woman to win the title after the covid-19 pandemic.

i.Japan’s Mima Ito took the Bronze Medal defeating Han Ying of Germany.

ii.Dishang ITTF Women’s World Cup is the 24th Edition of the ITTF Sanctioned event.

iii.It took place from November 8-10 at the Biosecure Weihai Nanhai Olympic Centre, Weihai, China.

Key Points:

i.Chen’s Victory made her the First Winner of the ITTF #RESTART series and took her tally of senior singles titles to 19.

ii.Around 21 Competitors from across the world participated in the World Cup.

iii.Weihai will host the Men’s World Cup Tournament between November 13-15, 2020.

iv.The Women’s and Men’s World Cup events were originally set to take place in Bangkok, Thailand and then Duesseldorf, Germany but were shifted to China by ITTF.
