Cabinet clears MoU between India and Côte d’lvoire on cooperation in the health sector

On March 4, 2020, The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) Chaired by the Prime Minister (PM) Shri Narendra Modi has approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Republic of India and the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene of the Republic of Cote d’lvoire on Cooperation in the field of Health.Union_cabinet_decisionKey Points:

i.This cooperation agreement includes exchanges and training of physicians, officers, other health professionals and specialists in the fields of advanced medical technology, nuclear medicine, kidney transplantation, cardiac surgery, nephrology, hemodialysis, and medical research.

ii.This includes regulation of drugs and pharmaceutical products, Assistance in the development of human resources and management of health care facilities, medical and health research development, health care sector and management of health purification including public health services and procurement of generics and essential medicines and assistance to sources of pharmaceutical supplies.

iii.The agreement also covers the following areas of cooperation

Cooperation and research in the field of HIV/AIDS

Development and improving the techniques and ways for epidemiological surveillance

Exchange & Share of best practices in the field of primary health care, management of hospitals and community healthcare centers

Enhancing public health and sharing of experiences in medical waste management

Health promotion and disease prevention; Non-Communicable Diseases

Medical Research

Occupational and Environmental Health

iv.A working group will be established in the future to oversee the details of the inspection and cooperation of the implementation of this MoU.
