The union cabinet chaired by Prime Minister(PM) Shri Narendra Modi approved the following proposal:
Approval to Payment Productivity Linked Bonus to railway employees for the FY 2018-19
Approval was given to payment of Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) which is equivalent to 78 days’ wages for the Financial Year (FY) 2018-19, to all 11.52 Lakh non-gazetted eligible railway employees excluding Railway Protection Force (RPF)/ Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) personnel, for maintaining industrial peace and railwaymen motivation. This would lead to an expenditure of Rs. 2024.40 crores to the exchequer(treasury).
It is also to be noted that this is the 6th consecutive year under Modi government that maintained 78 day wages bonus.
Benefit of PLB:
i. This 78 day wages provision would motivate the railway employees in improving the railway performances and productivity enhancements besides maintaining the industrial peace.
ii. The PLB would be an acknowledgement to all the non-gazetted railway employees for running the railways efficiently.
iii. This acknowledgement will enhance the sense of inclusiveness and equity among railwaymen and their families.
