Centre has consented Rs. 50,000 crore for infrastructure development projects in Tamil Nadu.
- The announcement has been made by Union Minister of Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Shri Nitin Gadkari during the foundation laying ceremony of 3 four-lane National Highways projects in Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli and Tirupur districts and 2 flyovers in Marthandam and Parvathipuram.
Projects in Progress
- At a cost of 2766 crore, 39 NH projects which would cover a distance of 1,974 km.
- At a cost of 12,500 crore, 9 new NH projects which would cover a distance of 1,300 km are also approved.
Funding from Centre
Cabinet had approved Rs. 33,000 crore for the infrastructure projects in Tamil Nadu which include of enhancing of the following projects:

- An additional amount of 17,000 crore has been approved by Shri Nitin Gadkari.
