BWF World Tour Finals 2025 held in China

The 8th edition of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour 2025, officially known as the HSBC BWF World Tour, featured 29 tournaments and concluded with the season-ending HSBC BWF World Tour Finals 2025 held from 17 to 21 December 2025 in Hangzhou, People’s Republic of China.

Background: The BWF introduced the BWF World Tour in 2018, replacing the Super Series (2007–2017), with five tournament levels, and the first season-ending BWF World Tour Finals were held in December 2018 at Guangzhou, China.

Prize Money: A total prize pool of USD 3,000,000, distributed as per BWF regulations, with singles winners receiving USD 240,000 and doubles winners USD 252,000

Women’s Singles:

  • Final Result: South Korea’s An Se-young defeated China’s Wang Zhiyi 21-13, 18-21, 21-10 to win the women’s singles title.
    Prize Milestone: An Se-young became the first badminton player to cross USD 1 million in prize money in a single year.
    Season Record: An Se-young concluded the season with 73 wins from 77 matches, registering an approximate win rate of 96%.

Men’s Singles: France’s Christo Popov defeated China’s Shi Yuqi 21-19, 21-9 to win the men’s singles title, marking the first major international championship of his career.

Men’s Doubles: Kim Won-ho and Seo Seung-jae of South Korea beat Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang of China 21-18, 21-14.

Women’s Doubles: Baek Ha-na and Lee So-hee of South Korea defeated Yuki Fukushima and Mayu Matsumoto of Japan 21-17, 21-11.

Mixed Doubles: Feng Yan Zhe and Huang Dong Ping of China defeated Jiang Zhen Bang and Wei Ya Xin 21-12, 21-17, captured their first World Tour Finals title together and their eighth title of the 2025 season.

Bronze Medal: Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty won the bronze medal in men’s doubles, becoming the first Indian men’s doubles pair to medal at the BWF World Tour Finals.

Indian Milestone: This achievement marked only India’s second medal in the tournament’s history after PV Sindhu’s gold in 2018.
