Common Wealth Games (CWG) gold medallist boxer, Manoj Kumar has finally recieved the prestigious Arjuna Award from Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on 26 th November 2014. He won the gold medal at the CWG 2010 held at New Delhi.
He was denied for the awards as Kapil Dev led selection committee, due to doping allegations against him. The committee recommended bronze medallist boxer Jai Bhagwan for the award. Manoj Kumar have approached the sports ministry for help, but again he was ignored in the review process. This eventually led him to take the legal route of filling a case in the Delhi High court. After the court ruling in favour of him, he was recognised and honoured with the award.
He lashed at Kapil Dev for ignoring him. As when he tried to explain him, he was ignored by Kapil Dev.
