Famous Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji has been given the national award by the National Institute of Gender Justice (NIGJ) for creating awareness about the child trafficking. She is the first personality from the Cinema industry to be felicitated with this prestigious award. The award was presented to Rani by Sreerupa Mitra Chaudhury, the chairperson NIGJ, in New Delhi.
Rani Mukherji, in her film Mardhaani, played a powerful role of cop, who prevents crime against women, especially girl child trafficking. Apart from acting, Rani Mukerji is actively involving herself in humanitarian causes, also gives her voice against child trafficking and exploitation of women.
