Lahore-based author Bilal Tanweer bagged the 2014 Shakti Bhatt First Book Prize for his maiden novel The Scatter Here Is Too Great.
The Scatter Here Is Too Great explores the complicated lives of ordinary people whose fates unexpectedly converge after a deadly bomb blast at the Karachi train station.
Mr. Tanweer has published fiction, poetry and translation in various international journals. In 2011, he was selected as a ‘Granta New Voice’.
The award comprises a price money of Rupees 2 lakhs and a trophy.
Shakti Bhatt First Book Prize
Shakti Bhatt was a young writer and she passed away in 2007 due to unexpected illness. The award was named after her.
The Shakti Bhatt First Book Prize was set up in 2008 to encourage authors from the sub-continent.
