BIL plans to set up two new units in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka

At an investment of around Rs.250 crore, Britannia Industries Ltd. (BIL) is planning to set up two new units, one near Erode in Tamil Nadu and another near Bangalore in Karnataka.
VARUN BERRY, Managing Director of Britannia Industries Ltd said that the new units are likely to be ready by December and will have a total capacity of 100,000 tonnes per annum.
• The company will also invest Rs 45 crore towards setting up research and development facility at Bangalore. This facility will focus on innovation and new product development.
• Britannia is also planning to re-launch its “Good Day” brand of biscuits soon. Good Day is the largest selling brand for Britannia, which generated retail revenue of Rs 2,000 crore in 2014-15.

• Britannia Industries Limited is an Indian food-products corporation based in Kolkata.
• It sells its Britannia and Tiger brands of biscuit throughout India.
• The Company’s principal activity is the manufacture and sale of biscuits, bread, rusk, cakes and dairy products.
• The company, currently, has a total capacity of 800,000 tonnes per annum across 14 of its own plants and 28-30 contract manufacturing facilities in the country.
• The company was established in the year 1892.
• The company reported a 13 per cent growth in its total income from operations which stood at Rs 2,018.60 crore in the quarter ended June 30, 2015.
