Veteran Bengali author, Sahitya Akademi winner Debesh RoyOn 14th May 2020, Veteran Bengali author Debesh Roy passed away at 84 due to massive cardiac attack in a private hospital in Baguihati. He was born on December 17, 1936 in Pabna(present day Bangladesh).He won the Sahitya Akademi award for his novel ā€˜Tista Parer Brittantoā€™ in 1990.

i.Debesh Roy was known as a writer who broke the set patterns in the fictional world of Bengali literature.

ii.He was a regular contributor to many Bengali dailies and a critic of the attacks on liberals in recent times and participated in protest meetings.

iii.He was admitted in the hospital with old age related ailments like sodium potassium imbalance, sugar problem and breathing problem.
