The Ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy) and Invest India will collaborate to set up a strategic policy unit called “Strategic Policy & Facilitation Bureau (SPFB)” to facilitate planned and systematic growth of Ayush Sector means SPFB Bureau will support the AYUSH ministry in strategic and policy making initiatives.
- Both entities will frame the work plan of the Bureau and define its short-and long-term targets.
- Also, Invest India would deploy highly trained and expert resources to implement and execute the plans of the ministry and would work with companies and other institutions on issue resolution across States and among various sub-sectors.
Activities to be undertaken by SPFB:
The activities to be undertaken by the SPFB would include Knowledge Creation and Management, Strategic & Policy-Making Support, State Policy Bench marking, Undertaking State Policy bench marking to formulate uniform guidelines/regulations regarding AYUSH sector in India, Investment Facilitation, Follow up and facilitation of investment cases and memorandum of understandings (MoUs), and coordination among different Department, organisations and States.

i.On September 20, 2020, Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) inked Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) to control Malnutrition as a part of POSHAN (Prime Minister’s Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nutrition) Abhiyaan or National Nutrition Mission Abhiyaan of MWCD to improve the nutritional outcomes for children, pregnant women and lactating mothers.
ii.On September 24, 2020, the National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB), Ministry of AYUSH signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Herbal Industry bodies with emphasis on raising immunity to fight coronavirus infection.
