On 20th August 2020, Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog and Business Sweden on behalf of India-Sweden Healthcare Innovation Centre signed a virtual Statement of Intent (SoI) to boost the culture of innovation in India.
R Ramanan, Mission Director of AIM, NITI Aayog and Anders Wickberg, Swedish Trade Commissioner to India, on behalf of India Sweden Healthcare Innovation Centre virtually signed the SoI.
Aim:
To promote the innovative potential of Indian Entrepreneurs and to boost the dynamic startup ecosystem across India.
India-Sweden Healthcare Innovation Centre:
i.India-Sweden Healthcare Innovation Centre is a collaboration of All India Institute of Medical Science(AIIMS) (Delhi, Jodhpur) and Business Sweden.
ii.The Centre is built under the strategic guidance of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare(MoHFW, India), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Ministry of Health and Social Affairs (Sweden)and Embassy of Sweden in India
iii.The ecosystem partners of the center are Invest India, AGNII and Startup India and the Knowledge partners are AstraZeneca, NASSCOM and VINNOVA.
Features of SoI:
i.Under this collaboration the initiatives and programmes under AIM are set to receive support through various programs, awareness campaigns, activities and events to promote the overall innovation grid in India and Sweden.
ii.This will strengthen the startup ecosystem to provide the required support to the innovators and entrepreneurs to scale up their solutions.
iii.Under this SoI, AIM will be supporting initiatives like Innovation Challenges, Incubation, Mentorship, access to funding networks, innovation showcase and conference events.
iv.This will support the creation of a sustainable ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship between India and Sweden.
v.This will strengthen the ecosystem of India-Sweden healthcare innovation centre and will enable an uninterrupted experience and faster scale-up to the startups that are onboarded with the India-Sweden Healthcare innovation centre.
Key Points:
i.This collaboration of AIM with India Sweden Healthcare Innovation Centre is in line with the recent initiatives of AIM to scale up the entrepreneurial and innovation network through multiple international collaborations.
ii.To solve the problems in the healthcare delivery landscape of India, India-Sweden Healthcare Innovation Centre has launched its first healthcare innovation challenge, to collaborate with the partners on the Innovation Centre platform.
