Indian playback singer Asha Bhosle, commonly referred as Ashaji has been conferred with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 11th Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF).
The octogenarian singer has recorded more than 12,000 songs and is known for her versatility as a singer be it folk songs, Indian classical music, pop songs, ghazals and bhajans.
Beginning her career in recorded music in 1943 at the age of 10, Bhosle was recognized in 2009 by the World Record Academy as the most recorded artist in history, with more than 11,000 credited recordings in 20 languages – many as a playback singer sound tracking the vocal numbers in Bollywood classics.
Asha Bhosle has won seven Filmfare Best Female Playback Awards of 18 nominations. She was awarded with the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001.
