As you may know, April 11th is the National Safe Motherhood Day. WRA India appealed to the Government of India for a declaration of a National Safe Motherhood and subsequently, the government declared 11 April as the National Safe Motherhood Day in the year 2003.
The theme for this year is ‘Nothing About Us Without Us’ – Citizens participation and engagement for improving women’s and children’s health.
Aims at reinforcing the demands for clear and standardized mechanisms and follow through for citizens engagement vis-à-vis policies, schemes and programs on women’s and children’s health.
This day was launched by the White Ribbon Alliance (WRA), India, a nonpartisan, non-profit and non-governmental membership organization that aims to decrease maternal and newborn death globally.
