Andhra Pradesh (AP) Chief Minister (CM) Yeduguri Sandinti Jaganmohan Reddy launched a scheme Jagananna Vidya Deevena with an outlay of Rs 4,000 crore to provide full fees reimbursement to about 14 lakh college students, including those in professional courses.
- In this regard, the AP govt also released pending due of Rs 1,880 crore during the previous Telugu Desam Party (TDP) government. The amount has been directly credited into the accounts of the students’ mothers.
- The CM also launched a helpline number, 1902, for parents of the students to lodge a complaint if the college management does not provide quality education or better facilities to their children.
Objective of the scheme
-Providing help to the financially weak students who want to study but unable to do so because of lack of finance.
-Promote Higher education in the state and encourage the youngsters for further education.
Jagananna Vasathi Deevana (JVD)
Apart from the above scheme, another scheme, Jagananna Vasathi Deevana, was also launched which will take care of hostel and mess charges, students who are pursuing their higher education
