According to The International Farm Comparison Network (IFCN) Dairy Processors Report 2020 (Biennial), Amul (Anand Milk Union Limited) a brand of dairy cooperative major Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) emerged as the 8th Largest Milk Processor globally in the list of Top 20.
i.The rankings are based on the parameters of Milk Intake per annum.
ii.Amul has reported an intake of 10.3 Billion Kg of Milk annually, it is more than double growth from the 4.54 Billion Kg of Milk Intake reported by Amul in 2013.

Key Points:
i.Amul has moved one rank upwards to 8th in 2020 ranking from the 9th Rank in 2018. The Dairy Processors Report has been released since 2000.
ii.Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) topped the list with 29 Billion Kg, New Zealand’s Fonterra with 21.9 Billion Kg of intake grabbed the second place and French Major Groupe Lactalis came third with 20 Billion Kg intake.
iii.The report also shows how milk processors contribute to Three dimensions of Sustainability i.e people, planet and profit.
iv.In September, 2020, Amul became the first Indian Dairy Company to enter Rabobank’s Annual listing of Global Dairy Top 20, 2020 Companies.It was ranked 16th with an annual turnover of USD 5.5 billion (approximately Rs 40,240 Crores).
