On March 11, 2020 the World Economic Forum (WEF) announced its new list of 115 Young Global Leaders (YGL), where 5 Indians Byju Raveendran, Gaurav Gupta, Swapan Mehra, Vinati Mutreja & Tara Singh Vachani are named in the list.
- WEF stated that the change makers are using their power of under 40’s to change the world, from reforming health systems to investigating corruption in 52 countries.
- The new YGL class will take part in a 5-year programme which includes- executive education courses, group expeditions & opportunities to collaborate & test ideas with a trusted network of peers.

i.Byju Raveendran- He is Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BYJU’S, a Learning App which has helped 42 million students learn better. It is the only startup in Asia which is funded by Mark Zuckerberg and his wife’s foundation- the “Chan Zuckerberg Initiative”.
ii.Gaurav Gupta- He is the co-founder & Chief Operating Officer(COO) of Zomato which is a pioneering food technology start-up.He launched it as a table reservation business & then scaled it up across India, UAE & Australia. He played an instrumental role in launching subscription service Zomato Gold & also scaled it to one of the fastest growing paid membership programs.
iii.Swapan Mehra- CEO of Iora Ecological Solutions Pvt. Ltd. is a global leader in climate action & ecosystem conservation in India. His tech-led work on conserving 10 million hectares of forests is shaping national strategies and policies in India.
iv.Vinati Mutreja- Vinati Mutreja is Managing Director (MD) & CEO of specialty chemical company Vinati Organics,where she applied innovative methods for selecting chemical processes and products that are environmentally attractive.
v.Tara Singh Vachani- She is the MD of Antara Senior Living, which focuses on improving the lives of seniors & is the first Indian venture creating vibrant residential communities that offer lifestyle with lifecare.
