On February 19, 2021 Amazon India signed Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) with Directorate General Resettlement(DGR) to provide work opportunities to ex-service personnel of the armed force(Army, Air force, Navy,) and their families across its network in India.
i.This in line with the global vision of Amazon to hire 25,000 military veterans by 2025.
ii.The partnership further expands the Military Veterans Employment program of Amazon India.
Purpose: To create alternative career opportunities for ex-service personnel who have served the country.

About the Partnership:
Through this partnership, ex-serviceman will have access to several work opportunities including a mix of individual contribution and managerial roles across its Fulfilment Centres, Sort Centres, and Delivery Stations.
What is the Military Veterans Employment program?
Amazon India, in 2019 launched the Military Veterans Employment program in partnership with the Army Welfare Placement Organization (AWPO) to create job opportunities for military veterans and their spouses across its network in India.
Amazon’s Commitment to military veterans:
i.Already, Amazon employed many military veterans in leadership and managerial roles in its operational network.
ii.These include Transportation, Customer Fulfilment, Facilities Management, and Security Operations, among others.
iii.More than 17500 military veterans and spouses are actively engaged in the program worldwide.
