Amazon Announced to Invest USD 35 billion in India by 2030

On December 10, 2025, Amazon, an American multinational technology company, announced that it will invest over USD 35 billion in India by 2030 during the Amazon Smbhav Summit in New Delhi, Delhi.

  • During the summit, Amazon also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV), under the Ministry of Railways(MoR), to collaborate on education, research, and skill development initiatives.

Key Details of Amazon’s Investment:

Areas of Investment: Amazon aims to expand the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered tools for businesses and education, boost India-enabled exports from USD 20 billion to USD 80 billion by 2030 by supporting Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

  • It also aims to create a total of 3.8 million jobs in India, including about 1 million new jobs.

Expansion: Amazon will expand its logistics, data, and digital infrastructure and enhance its AI-powered tools and consumer features for improved marketplace and shopping experiences.

Impact: Since 2010, Amazon has already invested about USD 40 billion in India, digitized over 12 million small businesses, enabled USD 20 billion in cumulative exports, and currently supports nearly 2.8 million jobs.

Alignment: The initiative aligns with the Government of India (GoI)’s vision of Digital India and Make in India initiatives.

Amazon Collaboration with Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya(GSV):

Areas of Cooperation: Under the MoU, Amazon will share its expertise with GSV faculty and provide students with industry insights.

  • The partnership will also co-develop courses on AI, automation, and logistics, and collaborate on research in transportation, digital freight, drone operations, and sustainable mobility, offering internships and project opportunities.

Amazon Chair Professorship: It was created at GSV to promote advanced research in the warehousing sector using data-driven decision-making tools.
