On September 18, 2019, The Directorate General of Training (DGT) division of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, has signed a pact with the world’s leading IT(Information Technology) company IBM (International Business Machines Corporation), under which a nationwide program to train trainers in Basic Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be carried out.
Key points:
i. As part of the program, ITI (Industrial Training Institutes) trainers will be trained on AI skills for use of technology in their daily training exercises.
ii. Objective: The objective of the program is to help trainers in basic approach, workflow and AI application, so that they can use it in their training modules.
IBM aims to train 10,000 ITI faculty members across India. The program will be of one year duration and will have 14 instructors at 7 locations with over 200 workshops.
These programs will equip youth with modern technological knowledge and skills. The digital skills will provide quality to the instructors, who is responsible for training the students.
iii. Description: The program was announced at the Kaushalaycharya Samadar ceremony on the occasion of Teachers Day on September 5, 2019, a total of 53 trainers were honored at the ceremony.Among them were experts who trained the WorldSkills Competition winners, trainers from National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs), Industrial Training Centres (ITI), Jan Sikshan Sansthans (JSS) and trainers from reputed corporate houses.
iv. IBM will impart the required training at 7centres including 6 National Skills Training Institutes (NSTI) and an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Pune.
v. The training course will be divided into 2 parts, where the workshop will be supported by online modules, so that the faculty members have the chance to learn holistically. Every person participated in this workshop will be pre evaluated so that their skills can be tested.Participating online courses will be obtained with technical support of the trainees.Those who involved in the workshop will be evaluated after the program.
