The book titled as ‘Vijyant at Kargil: The Life of a Kargil Hero’ authored by Vijyant’s father Colonel VN Thapar and writer Neha Dwivedi, a martyr’s daughter. Its e-book will be released on May 15. It is published by Penguin Random House.Essence of the book:
It is the 1st biography about Vir Chakra awardee(posthumously) Captain Vijyant Thapar’s journey to join the Indian Military Academy and the experiences that shaped him into a fine officer. It gives a rare insight into the heart and mind of one of India’s bravest soldiers.
Captain Vijyant Thapar
i.He was born on 26 Dec 1976 in a military family to Colonel V N Thapar & Tripta Thapar.
ii.Killed at the age of 22 by a shot in the head on June 29, 1999, during the Kargil War’s Knoll assault.
iii.Last letter to his family, later inspired many Indians, where he predicted his death and wrote, ‘Even if I become a human again I’ll join the Army and fight for my nation’.
He is a 4th generation army officer. At the early age of 15, he was selected for the National Defence Academy and commissioned on 12 Dec 1998 in the Maratha Light Infantry.

He is an alumnus of the prestigious Defense Services, Staff College, Wellington & has written for media publications and is a motivational speaker at various forums, universities, colleges and schools.
Neha Dwivedi
She is a Kargil war martyr’s daughter, an Armoured Corps Officer’s wife and a doctor by profession. Took to the writing profession as it comforted her & found strength from her father’s martyrdom. Her other book includes Hidden Feelings, Dear love, A letter to Myself.
