300 year old Kali temple reconstructedOn July 27, 2020 Reconstruction of  a 300-year-old temple, Sree Sree Joy Kali Matar temple began in Natore,Bangladesh with Indian assistance. The Indian High Commissioner Riva Ganguly Das inaugurated the event virtually.

The High Commission of India in Bangladesh added that an MoU for the reconstruction of the temple at Lalbazar, Natore was signed on 23 October 2016. 

Other members of the event

Along with the High Commissioner, the event was inaugurated by the Bangladesh’s State minister for Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Member of Parliament Shafiqul Islam and Mayor of Natore Uma Choudhury Jolly.

Budget of Construction

i.The government of India provided financial assistance of Bangladeshi Taka 97 lakhs for the reconstruction of the temple. 

ii.A total cost of 1.33 Crores of Bangladeshi Taka is provided under the High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP).

About Joy Kali Matar temple

i.It was built by Shri Dayaram Roy, Dewan of Rani Bhabani of Natore and founder of Dighapatia Royal Family of the 18th Century. 

ii.Festivals like Durga Pooja, Kali Puja are celebrated in this temple. 

About High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP)

i.Projects like the construction of Ramakrishna Temple, a two storied Adibasi Shagshoil School and Niamatpur Girls’ Hostel were taken under the scheme. 

ii.Small Developments Projects at Rajshahi City Corporation, restoration of Sree Sree Anandomoyee Kali Mata Mandir, construction of ground floor and first floor of Michigan Girls’ High School and college have also been considered under the HICDP scheme.
