Veteran Bollywood actress Saira Banu and actor Jackie Shroff have been named by Maharashtra State Govt. for Raj Kapoor Lifetime Achievement Award and Raj Kapoor Special Contribution award respectively. The announcement was made by Maharashtra Cultural Affairs Minister Vinod Tawde.
- Renowned Marathi actors, Vikram Gokhale and Arun Nalawade have been named for this year’s V. Shantaram Lifetime Achievement Award and V.Shantaram Special Contribution Award.
- The Awards will be presented at the upcoming 54th Maharashtra State Marathi Film Festival.
About the Awards:
- These awards have been instituted by Maharashtra State Govt.
- Raj Kapoor Lifetime Achievement Award and V. Shantaram Lifetime Achievement Award, both carry a citation and cash prize of Rs. 5 lakh.
- Raj Kapoor Special Contribution Award and V. Shantaram Special Contribution Award, both carry a citation and cash prize of Rs. 3 lakh.
Brief Biography of Saira Banu:
Saira Banu was born in the year 1944 in the erstwhile United Provinces of British India.
- Film Junglee (1961) was her first film as a lead actress.
- In 1966 she married Bollywood Superstar Dilip Kumar.
- Some of the hit films in which Saira Banu has given memorable performance are “Junglee”, “Purab aur Paschim”, “Victoria No. 203”, “Padosan”, “Jwar Bhata” and “Bairag”

Jackie Shroff was born in year 1957 in Maharashtra
- Film Hero (1983) directed by Subhash Ghai was his first film as a lead actor.
- Till date he has acted in more than 200 films in 10 different languages.
- Some of the hit films in which Jackie Shroff has given memorable performance are “Hero”, “Teri Meherbaniyan” and “Sazish”.
- In 1990 Jackie had won the Filmfare Award in ‘Best Actor’ category for his role in the film “Parinda”.
