Union Government chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved Civil Aviation Policy and named as “Game Changer”
India should stand the third largest position among civil aviation market by 2022.
The Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi named the Policy as “Game Changer”
Aims of the Policies:
- Improving India’s 9th position to 3rd largest civil aviation market by the year 2022
- Implementing ‘Make In India’ programme in Civil Aviation Sector
- Enhancing Cargo volumes by 4 times to 10 million tonnes by 2027
- Domestic ticketing to grow from 8 crore in 2015 to 30 crore by 2022
- Scheduled commercial flights to increase from 77 in 2016 to 127 by 2019
- Adaptable and effective version of ‘open skies’ and ‘code share’ agreements
- Development of green-field Airports and Heliports
- Enhancement version of business through deregulation and e-governance
- Incentives to MRO sector to develop as hub for South Asia
- Assuring availability of quality certified 3.3 lakh skilled personnel by 2025

- Regional connectivity and Route Dispersal Guidelines
- 5/20 Requirement for International Operations
- Airport Security and Management
- Ground handling and Air cargo, navigation and maintenance
- Airports developed by both State Govt and Private sector Airports Authority of India
- The 5/20 rule in the operation of International flight is officially cancelled.
- Slight changes in the International Operations by the deal of domestic operation.
- All airlines begins international operations supplied 20 aircrafts in ready conditions
5/20 Rule:
All airlines in India are permitted to fly abroad only if it has five years of domestic flying experience and acquired a fleet of at least 20 aircraft
