Union Government released the funds under various sections of Swachh Bharat Mission to enhance the quality of Sanitation of Urban areas of Punjab state
- Funds Sanctioned: 16 Crore 79 Lakh Rupees
- No. of Municipal Corporation City: 9 except Ludhiana Corporation
*Ludhiana funded under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission
The funded amounts are the first Installment of the Solid Waste Management
- Union Government has allocated 221 Crore Rupees to achieve the mission till October, 2019
- Punjab Government has framed a technical committee to finalise the requirements of local bodies.
- The funds will be allocated to the other Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayats on subsequent Phases.
- The Funds will also enhance the ongoing cluster lever projects for Municipal Solid Waste Management of Urban Local Bodies of Punjab on Public Private Partnership for 25 years
Under the Solid Waste Management program, the project has been divided into eight clusters
- Bathinda
- Ferozpur
- Ludhiana
- Jalandhar
- Amritsar
- Patiala
- GMADA – Greater Mohali Area Development Authority
- Pathankot
Out of the eight clusters, 3 clusters are in implementation stage while 5 cluster are in development stage
