In December 2025, In December 2025, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) handed over seven indigenous technologies developed under the Technology Development Fund (TDF) scheme to the Indian Armed Forces including the Indian Air Force (IAF), Indian Army (IA), and Indian Navy (IN) during an Empowered Committee meeting held at DRDO Bhawan in New Delhi, Delhi.
- The seven technologies include: an Indigenous High-Voltage Power Supply (IHVPS); a Tide-Efficient Gangway (TEG); Advanced Very Low Frequency–High Frequency Switching Matrix Systems (VLF–HF SMS); VLF Loop Aerials (VLF-LA); an Indigenous Waterjet Propulsion System (IWPS); a Novel Process for Recovery of Lithium Precursors (NPRLP) and a Long-Life Seawater Battery System (LLSBS).
Exam Hints:
- What? 7 technologies handed over to the Indian Armed Forces
- By Whom? DRDO, under the chairmanship of Dr. Samir V Kamat
- Scheme: Technology Development Fund (TDF) scheme
- Technologies Handed Over:
- Indigenous High-Voltage Power Supply for Airborne Self-Protection Jammers (IHVPS‑ASPJ)
- Tide-Efficient Gangway for Naval Jetties (TEG)

About Empowered Committee meeting :
Chair: The meeting was chaired by Dr. Samir V. Kamat, Secretary of Defence R&D and Chairman of DRDO, and attended by senior officials from the Indian Armed Forces, Department of Defence Production (DDP), Ministry of Defence (MoD), and DRDO.
Development: Each of these technologies has been designed, developed, and rigorously tested by Indian industry in close collaboration with DRDO experts and the Tri-Services.
New Projects Approved: Additionally, 12 new projects spanning strategic, aerospace, naval, and electronic warfare technologies were approved.
Technologies Handed Over:
Indigenous High-Voltage Power Supply for Airborne Self-Protection Jammers (IHVPS‑ASPJ): Designed to support airborne electronic warfare systems, this power supply enhances the operational capability of aircraft by enabling reliable jamming and self-protection mechanisms against incoming threats.
Tide-Efficient Gangway (TEG) for Naval Jetties: Facilitates safe boarding and deboarding of personnel and equipment under varying tidal conditions, ensuring operational efficiency and safety at naval installations.
Advanced VLF–HF Switching Matrix System (VLF–HF SMS): Enables secure and reliable communication across very-low and high-frequency bands, crucial for command-and-control operations in challenging environmental and operational conditions.
VLF Loop Aerials (VLF-LA) for Underwater Platforms: Provides communication and signal reception capabilities for submarines and other underwater vehicles, supporting stealth operations and maritime surveillance.
Indigenous Water-Jet Propulsion System (IWPS) for Fast Interceptor Craft (FIC): Enhances speed, agility, and manoeuvrability of naval interceptor boats, improving the response time for coastal and offshore security operations.
Novel Process to Recover Lithium Precursors (NPRLP) from Used Lithium-Ion Batteries (LIBs): Supports sustainable recovery of critical lithium materials, which can be reused in defence energy storage solutions, contributing to resource efficiency and circular economy goals.
Long-Life Seawater Battery System (LLSBS) for Underwater Sensing and Surveillance Applications (USSA): Powers underwater sensors and surveillance equipment, providing long-duration operation for naval and maritime security missions while minimizing maintenance.
About Technology Development Fund (TDF) Scheme:
Established:The TDF scheme was officially established during the Union Budget 2014–15. It was executed by DRDO.
Objective: The scheme seeks to achieve Aatmanirbhar Bharat by fostering self-reliance in defence technology through indigenous innovation, import substitution, and the enhancement of domestic defence manufacturing under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
Funding: It provides grants-in-aid to eligible Indian industries, particularly MSMEs and startups, for developing defence and dual-use technologies.
