Cabinet Approves Rs.7,280 Crore Scheme to Promote Manufacturing of Sintered REPMIn November 2025, the Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi approved the ‘Scheme to Promote Manufacturing of Sintered Rare Earth Permanent Magnets(REPM)’ with a financial outlay of  Rs 7,280 crores (cr). 
About REPM Manufacturing Scheme:
Production Capacity: The scheme aims to establish 6,000 Metric Tons per Annum (MTPA) of integrated REPM manufacturing in India, covering the full value chain from rare earth oxides to metals, metals to alloys, and alloys to finished REPMs.
Implementation: This scheme is implemented by the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI).
Participation: Both public and private sector companies are eligible to take part.
Financial Outlay: The total financial outlay of the scheme is Rs 7280 cr, comprising a sales-linked incentives of Rs 6450 cr on REPM sales for five (5) years.

• The scheme provides a capital subsidy of Rs 750 cr for setting up an aggregate of 6,000 MTPA of REPM manufacturing facilities.

Scheme Duration: The total duration of the scheme will be 7 years from the date of award.

Cabinet Approves Pune Metro Phase-2, 224-km Railway Multitracking ProjectsOn November 26, 2025, the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi approved the following proposals:
Pune Metro Rail Project:
Overview: The Pune Metro Phase-2 project for Lines 4 and 4A spans 31.636 km and includes 28 fully elevated stations to be completed within five years at an estimated cost of Rs.9,857.85 crores.

• This marks the second major project approved under Phase-2, following the sanction of Line 2A (Vanaz-Chandani Chowk) and Line 2B (Ramwadi-Wagholi/Vitthalwadi).

Funding: It is jointly funded by the Government of India(GoI), Government of Maharashtra and external bilateral and multilateral agencies. It will be implemented by Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha Metro).
CCEA approved two Multitracking Railway projects:
Overview: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by the PM Narendra Modi, approved the 224 Km multitracking projects, encompassing 141 km- doubling of Devbhumi Dwarka (Okha) – Kanalus track (Gujarat) and the addition of 3rd and 4th line to the 32 km-Badlapur-Karjat in Maharashtra.
Budget: The projects, with a budget outlay of Rs. 2,781 crores, will increase line capacity, improve operational efficiency, and enhance service reliability for Indian Railways (IR).

MoA&FW released first advanced estimates of kharif crop production for 2025-26In November 2025, the Ministry of Agriculture and Family Welfare (MoA&FW) released the first advanced estimates of kharif crop production for 2025-26, recording an increase in total food grain production by 3.87 million tonnes (MT).
Key Highlights
Food grain Production: As per the first advanced estimates of food grains production, the production is expected to rise by 3.87 MT to 173.33 MT.
Kharif Production: India’s rice production during the 2025-26 kharif season that ended in October 2025 reached a record 124.504 MT, which is 1.732 MT more than the production of Kharif rice the previous year.

• The kharif maize production is estimated at 28.303 MT, up 3.495 MT from the previous kharif season.
• The first advance estimates project Kharif coarse cereals production at 41.414 MT.

Union Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan & Annapurna Devi Launch ‘Nayi Chetna 4.0’ CampaignOn November 25, 2025, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (MoAFW), Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), and Union Minister Annapurna Devi, Ministry of Women & Child Development (MoWCD), launched the fourth edition of the “Nayi Chetna-Initiative for Change”, a nationwide campaign, in New Delhi, Delhi.

• The campaign focuses on gender equality and empowering women, especially in rural areas.

Nayi Chetna Campaign 4.0:
Organizer: The campaign is organized under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM), under MoRD, and will run in all 36 States and Union Territories (UTs) till December 23, 2025.

• The campaign is led by Self Help Groups (SHGs) across the villages.

Aim: The initiative aims to promote respect, safety, and self-reliance for women, raise awareness against gender-based violence, encourage safe mobility for women, recognize women’s economic contributions, and promote shared responsibilities in families.
Empowerment: The initiative is aimed at promoting SHG enterprises, Credit access, Skill development, and “Lakhpati Didi” model to increase women’s income.
About Lakhpati Didi: It is an initiative by the Government of India (GOI) under the DAY-NRLM to help rural women earn at least Rs.1 lakh per year by strengthening their livelihoods and improving income opportunities.
About Nayi Chetna:  Nayi Chetna-Initiative for Change campaign focuses on ending Gender-Based Violence (GBV), ensuring women’s safety and dignity, promoting gender equality, and strengthening women empowerment across India. It was first launched in 2022

In November 2025, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting(MIB) and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology(MeitY); and Union Minister of State(MoS) Jayant Chaudhary, Independent Charge(IC), Ministry of for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship(MSDE) and Ministry for Education(MoE), jointly inaugurated a Skill India Centre (SIC) at Ch. Kehar Singh Divya Public School, Baraut, Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh(UP).

About Skill India Centre (SIC):
Establishment: The Centre was established by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) in partnership with the Redington Foundation to enhance skill development opportunities in rural areas.
Aim: The initiative aims to train around 600 candidates, primarily underprivileged youth and women, from Baraut and Chhaprauli blocks, focusing on courses aligned with the electronics, Information Technology(IT), and IT-enabled services (ITeS) sectors.
Impact: The programme strengthens the government’s mission to develop a technologically skilled workforce, empower rural youth and women, and promote a digitally inclusive economy in underserved regions of UP.

IIT Kharagpur Unveils Special Postage Stamp as a part of Platinum Jubilee Celebrations
In November 2025, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, West Bengal(WB), as part of its Platinum Jubilee (75 years), unveiled a Rs.5 commemorative postage stamp issued by India Post under the Ministry of Communication.

About Commemorative Postage Stamp:
Released by: The stamp was released by Prof. Suman Chakraborty, Director of IIT Kharagpur; Kathy Giles-Dia, the United States(US) Consul General in Kolkata; and Ashok Kumar, State Chief Postmaster General  (CPMG).
Significance: The stamp commemorates IIT Kharagpur’s status as India’s first IIT and recognises its 75 years of contributions to engineering education, research, and nation‑building.
Global Initiative: As part of the platinum jubilee activities, IIT Kharagpur also initiated discussions on a strategic global outreach initiative planned in Houston, USA, (United States of America) aimed at strengthening international collaborations and expanding its innovation network.

BANKING & FINANCE

World Bank Approved USD 776 Million for Development Projects in Punjab and MaharashtraIn November 2025, World Bank approved funding of USD 776 million (around Rs. 6,467 crore) for two projects in India focused on improving education in Punjab and advancing climate-resilient agriculture in Maharashtra.

Development Projects in Punjab:
Funding & Tenure: The first initiative, Punjab Outcomes-Acceleration in School Education Operation (POISE), is backed by a USD 286 million loan with a 19-year maturity, including a 5-year grace period, aimed at enhancing educational outcomes in the state.
Objective: Improve quality of school education in Punjab through technology-enabled monitoring and learning-outcome tracking.
Key Components: The project aims to set up digital infrastructure, strengthen State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT) and Assessment Cell capacities, and provide teacher training and resources through state-level systems.
Beneficiaries: The project will support 59 lakh children in early childhood education, 13 lakh students in primary schools, and over 22 lakh students in secondary schools.
Development Projects in Maharashtra:
Funding & Tenure: The second initiative, Maharashtra Project on Climate Resilient Agriculture (POCRA) Phase II, is funded with USD 490 million, featuring a 24-year maturity and a 6-year grace period, to promote climate-resilient and technology-driven agriculture in the state.
Objective: Strengthen agricultural productivity and climate resilience through adoption of precision-farming digital technologies.
Key Components: The project aims to improve soil health, nutrient and water management, use digital tools like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and remote sensing, promote precision farming, and increase smallholder farmers’ income by 30%.
Beneficiaries: The project will benefit over 20 lakh small and marginal farmers across 21 districts, including 2.9 lakh women farmers.
Background: POCRA, or ‘Nanaji Deshmukh Krishi Sanjivani’, was launched in collaboration between the Maharashtra government and the World Bank as a six-year (2018–2024) project costing Rs 4,000 crore, with Phase 1 implemented in 5,220 villages across 16 districts in Maharashtra.

BHIM Launches ‘Full Delegation’ Feature for UPI Circle to Boost User Engagement
On November 25, 2025, Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM), an application developed by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), launched a “Full Delegation” feature under Unified Payments Interface (UPI) circle, with an aim to attract new users to the application.

About Full Delegation Feature:
Authorization: The feature enables a primary account holder to authorize up to five trusted individuals, including family members, dependents, or staff to make payments directly from the primary account holder’s bank account.
Feature: It includes Primary and Secondary users. The delegation is set by the primary user who is the account holder. The secondary users are trusted individuals.

• The secondary users must have a BHIM UPI Identification (ID) even if they do not have a bank account.

Transaction Limit: Under this feature, the primary user can set a monthly spending limit of Rs.15,000 and can also define a per-transaction limit.

• The delegated users can pay without needing the Personal Identification Number (PIN) of the primary user, while all the transactions remain visible to the primary user.

Delegation Validity:The delegation period can be set by the primary user, ranging from 1 month up to 5 years.

PPSL Secures RBI Approval to Operate as Payment AggregatorOn 26 November 2025, Paytm Payments Services Limited (PPSL), a subsidiary of One97 Communications, received the Certificate of Authorisation (COA) from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to operate as a Payment Aggregator(PA) under the Payment and Settlement Systems Act(PSSA), 2007.

Expands PA Operations:
Background: In November 2022, the RBI imposed restrictions on PPSL due to Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) compliance concerns. After meeting the necessary regulatory requirements, PPSL secured in-principle approval in August 2025, paving the way for the final licence.
Restrictions Lifted: The RBI also lifted the restrictions on PPSL that had been imposed on November 25, 2022, allowing the company to onboard new merchants.

•  PPSL can now onboard new merchants, process payments, and expand its digital payment ecosystem.

Standard Certification: The COA is a common regulatory certification held by most major fintech companies.
Payment Aggregator (PA): It is a fintech service that lets merchants accept digital payments without needing their own payment gateway or bank integration.

ACQUISITIONS & MERGERS

CCI Approvals on November 25, 2025On 25 November 2025, the Competition Commission of India (CCI), under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), approved three major acquisition proposals across the financial services, power generation, and industrial manufacturing sectors, reflecting an active phase of corporate consolidation in India.
Key Approvals:
Acquisition of Toyota Industries Corporation by Toyota Asset Preparatory: The CCI approved the acquisition of 100% shareholding of Toyota Industries Corporation (TIC) (Target) by Toyota Asset Preparatory Co., Ltd. (Acquirer) as part of the Toyota Group’s corporate restructuring and consolidation, with the Acquirer eventually held around 99% by Toyota Fudosan Co., Ltd. (TFC).
Acquisition of Jhajjar Power  by Jindal Jhajjar Power :The CCI approved 100% acquisition of Jhajjar Power Limited (Target) by Jindal Jhajjar Power Limited (Acquirer).

• Jindal Jhajjar Power Limited is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Jindal Power Limited (JPL), which is engaged in power generation, including thermal power.

Acquisition of Certain Businesses of ICICI Venture Funds Management by ICICI Prudential Asset Management: The CCI approved the acquisition of select businesses of ICICI Venture Funds Management Company Limited (Seller) by ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company (AMC) Limited (Acquirer).

• The move is part of a larger decision made by both companies’ boards in May 2025 to transfer ICICI Venture’s private equity, real-estate, and fund-management businesses to ICICI Prudential AMC, bringing these operations under one consolidated entity.

Paras Defence Signs ToT Agreement with DRDO for DNS System
In November 2025, Paras Defence & Space Technologies Limited (Paras Defence) signed a Technology Transfer (ToT) agreement with Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Ministry of Defence (MoD), for manufacturing the Driver Night Sight (DNS) system used in T-90 tanks.

DNS System: 
Overview: It is an electro-optical night-vision system developed by DRDO for tank drivers. It enables the driver to operate the tank at night, in low-light or poor-visibility conditions, and without external lights.
Features: It includes thermal imaging for night driving, day camera for daytime or low-light, fused image combining thermal and day camera, wide field of view for better navigation, and designed to fit existing T-90 tanks without major modifications.
Role of Entities: Under the agreement, DRDO shares the design, know-how, and manufacturing tech with Paras Defence. With this move, Paras Defence became authorised to manufacture the DNS system in India.

• It can supply these systems to the Indian Army (IA) for T-90 upgrades.

Alignment: The move aligns with the Government of India (GOI)’s vision of Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India).

Overview of 25th Summer Deaflympics 2025 held in Tokyo, JapanThe 25th edition of the 2025 Summer Deaflympics or XXV Summer Deaflympics, an international multi-sport event for Deaf athletes, held in Tokyo, Japan from 15th to 26th November 2025.

• Ukraine dominated the event by topping both the gold and overall medal tallies with 32 gold, 39 silver, and 29 bronze (100 total medals), United States of America (USA) with 36 medals (gold, silver, and bronze) and Japan with 51 medals (gold, silver, and bronze).
• India achieved its highest-ever Summer Deaflympics finish by placing 6th with a total of 20 medals, including 9 gold, 7 silver, and 4 bronze.

Indian Records:
Shooting Contribution: Indian shooters secured 16 of the country’s 20 total medals.
Top Performers: Mahit Sandhu became India’s most successful athlete with 4 medals (2 gold, 2 silver), alongside record-breaking performances by Dhanush Srikanth, Abhinav Deshwal, and Pranjali Dhumal.
Golf Success: Diksha Dagar, India’s only Olympian in the contingent, won gold in Women’s Individual Golf, her second Deaflympics gold.
Historic Firsts: India secured its first-ever medals in Wrestling and Karate.

CGF Approves to Host 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad, Gujarat
On November 26, 2025, the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) General Assembly approved a proposal to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, defeating Abuja (Nigeria) in the bid in Glasgow, Scotland.

• This marks the second time, earlier, India hosted the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, Delhi.
• The 2030 edition marks the 100th year of the Commonwealth games, first held in Hamilton, Canada in 1930.

Indian Representation: It includes Kunal K, Joint Secretary (Sports); PT Usha, President, Indian Olympic Association (IOA); Raghuram Iyer, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), IOA; and Harsh Sangavi, Sports Minister, Gujarat.
Games Format and Sports Programme: This will feature an expanded lineup of 15–17 sports, compared to the 10-sport format of Glasgow, Scotland 2026 common wealth games.

• The confirmed sports include athletics, swimming, table tennis, bowls, weightlifting (with Para events), artistic gymnastics, netball, and boxing. Additionally, several disciplines are under review for inclusion, such as archery, badminton, 3×3 basketball, beach volleyball, cricket T20, cycling, diving, hockey, judo, rhythmic gymnastics, rugby sevens, shooting, squash, and triathlon. The final sports programme will be announced next year.

Commonwealth Games: It is an international multi-sport event involving athletes from the Commonwealth of Nations, a group of 56 countries, which were formerly part of the British Empire. The games are held once every four years.

Asian Paints Inks 3-Year Partnership with BCCI as Official Colour Partner
In November 2025, Asian Paints Limited, India’s largest paint company, has signed a three-year partnership with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as the Official Colour Partner, covering 110 Team India matches. The deal value has not been disclosed.

About BCCI’s Partnership:
Industry Association: With this partnership, Asian Paints becomes part of the BCCI’s official partners lineup, joining brands such as Reliance Industries’ Campa; SBI Life,a subsidiary of State Bank of India (SBI); and Atomberg Technologies.
Coverage: The collaboration extends across men’s, women’s, and domestic cricket series played in India.
Engagement: The deal also includes on-ground engagement and digital initiatives, such as introducing ‘The Asian Paints Colour Cam’, a dedicated fan cam designed to spotlight the most colourful fans.

Legendary Bharatanatyam Dancer Kumari Kamala Passed AwayIn November 2025, Renowned Bharatanatyam dancer Kamala Laxmi Narayanan, popularly known as Kumari Kamala, passed away at the age of 91 in California, United States of America (USA). She was born on 16 June,1934 in Mayuram (Present Mayiladuthurai), Madras Presidency (Present Tamil Nadu (TN).

About Kumari Kamala:
Overview: Kumari Kamala learned Vazhuvoor style Bharatanatyam, Kathak and Hindustani Music at her young age. She has also acted in over 100 films across Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi cinema.
Film Career: She made her debut as a child in Tamil films such as Valibar Sangham (1938) and Rama Nama Mahimai (1939). She also appeared in Hindi films such as Jailor (1938), Kismet, and Ram Rajya (1943).

• Her various dance performances in movies, including Paampu Attam (Snake Dance) in Jagathalapratapan (1944) made her popular. She also performed in movies, including Sri Valli (1945), Meera (1945), and Nam Iruvar (1947).

Awards: In 1970, she was conferred with the Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian award, for her contribution in the field of arts. She also received Kalaimamani in 1967 from the TN government and Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (1968).

• In 2010, she also received the National Heritage Fellowship (USA) from National Endowment for the Arts, the highest honour for traditional and folk artists in the USA, recognizing her global role in promoting Bharatanatyam.

National Constitution Day ‘Samvidhan Diwas’ 2025 – November 26National Constitution Day also known as ‘Samvidhan Diwas’ is observed annually across India on 26th November to commemorate the adoption of the Indian Constitution by the Constituent Assembly of India in 1949.

• 26th November 2025 marks the 76th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India.

Declaration: The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJ&E) announced in 2015 that 26th November would be observed annually as Constitution Day to promote constitutional values among citizens.
Inception: The first Constitution Day was officially observed on 26th November 2015.
2025 Event:
Event: On 26th November 2025, the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, along with Vice-President Chandrapuram Ponnusami (C. P.) Radhakrishnan and Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi commemorated National Constitution Day 2025 at the Central Hall of Parliament House, Samvidhan Sadan, New Delhi, Delhi.
Regional Constitution: The Legislative Department (LD), Ministry of Law and Justice (MoL&J), digitally released the Constitution in nine regional languages: Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Punjabi, Bodo, Kashmiri, Telugu, Odia, and Assamese.
Booklet: The Ministry of Culture released a commemorative booklet titled “Bharat ke Samvidhan se Kala aur Calligraphy”, highlighting the art and calligraphy of the original handwritten Constitution.
International Tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar:
On 26th November 2025, a bronze bust of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was unveiled at United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Headquarters in Paris, France, by the Permanent Delegation of India to UNESCO.

National Milk Day 2025 – November 26National Milk Day is observed every year on 26 November across India to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Verghese Kurien, widely known as the “Father of the White Revolution in India” and “Milkman of India”.
Background: 
Origin: National Milk Day was instituted in 2014 through a joint initiative of the Indian Dairy Association (IDA), the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), and 22 State-Level Milk Federations.
First Observance: The first National Milk Day was celebrated on 26 November 2014.
Nodal Ministry: The annual observance is coordinated by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying(DoAHD) under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying (MoFAH&D).
2025 Event :
Celebration: The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD), under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying(MoFAH&D), celebrated National Milk Day 2025 on 26 November 2025 at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, New Delhi.
Participants: The event was attended by Union Minister of State(MoS) Prof. S. P. Singh Baghel and Union MoS George Kurian, MoFAH&D along with Naresh Pal Gangwar, Secretary, DAHD, and other senior officials.
Launches: During the event, the Guidelines for Minimum Standards of Veterinary Infrastructure in India and the Basic Animal Husbandry Statistics (BAHS) 2025 were launched.

World Sustainable Transport Day 2025 – November 26The United Nations (UN’s) World Sustainable Transport Day (WSTD) was observed on 26 November to highlight the need for safe, affordable, accessible, and sustainable transport to boost economic growth, well-being, and international cooperation.

• 26th November 2025 marks 3rd observance of WSTD

Background:
Resolution: On 16 May 2023, the UN General Assembly(UNGA) adopted A/RES/77/286, titled “Strengthening the links between all modes of transport to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG),” proclaiming 26 November each year as WSTD.

• The resolution was introduced by Turkmenistan and co-sponsored by 66 countries.

First Observance: The first WSTD was observed on 26 November 2023.
Significance : The date marks the first UN Global Sustainable Transport Conference held on 26-27 November 2016 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
Organizers: The observance is coordinated by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) in partnership with UN regional economic commissions.
2025 Event:
Decade of Sustainable Transport: On 10 December 2025, the UN Headquarters in New York,the United States of America(USA), will officially launch the United Nations Decade of Sustainable Transport (2026–2035), along with its Implementation Plan.

• This initiative aims to accelerate the transition towards safe, inclusive, accessible, and environmentally sustainable transport systems worldwide, supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
