ITA Origin: The ITA was established at Conference of the Parties, 28th session (COP28) as a global platform to decarbonise industry and transport, responsible for one-third of global emissions.
Overview: Launched under the ITA India Project Support Programme in collaboration with BCG, the COP28-linked report seeks to fast-track India’s industrial decarbonisation and ensure investment readiness by 2026.
Geographic Spread: Projects cluster in Odisha, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh (AP), Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu (TN), and Rajasthan, leveraging strong renewable potential and port infrastructure.

Sweden Becomes World’s First Cashless Society
In November 2025, Sweden became the world’s first society to operate as a cashless society, where digital payments replace physical currency in everyday transactions.

  • As per the Sveriges Riksbank, Central Bank of Sweden, the total amount of cash, including banknotes and coins, is less than 1% compared to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Sweden.

Khangchendzonga NP Rated ‘Good’ by IUCN, Only Indian Site to Receive Positive StatusIn October 2025, Khangchendzonga National Park(NP), in Sikkim, has been rated ‘Good’ by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in the 4th edition of its World Heritage Outlook, making it the only Indian natural heritage site to receive such recognition

  • IUCN World Heritage Outlook 2025 was released at the IUCN World Conservation Congress 2025 in October 2025 in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

About IUCN World Heritage Outlook 4:
Total Sites Covered: This latest edition of outlook has assessed 271 natural and mixed world heritage sites including 231 natural sites and 40 are mixed sites, across 115 countries.
Biodiversity Threats: The IUCN World Heritage Outlook 4 report highlights climate change, tourism, invasive species, and road development as key threats to South Asia’s biodiversity, classifying sites as “Good,” “Good with Some Concerns,” “Significant Concern,” or “Critical” based on conservation status and urgency of action.
Conservation Status of India’s Natural Heritage Sites: Kaziranga NP (Assam), Nanda Devi and Valley of Flowers NP (Uttarakhand), and the Great Himalayan NP Conservation Area (Himachal Pradesh, HP) have been rated ‘Good with Some Concerns’ by the IUCN, reflecting effective conservation with minor challenges.

On November 6, 2025, State Bank of India (SBI), a Public Sector Bank(PSB), crossed the USD 100 billion market capitalization(market cap) for the first time, after its total business including deposits and advances, surpassed Rs.100 trillion.

Junio Payments Receives RBI Approval for Prepaid Payment Instruments

AEL’s KCL & Caravel Minerals Signed MoU to Fast-track Major Australian Copper Project
In November 2025, Australia’s Caravel Minerals Limited has signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kutch Copper Limited (KCL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL), for strategic collaboration on Caravel Copper Project in Western Australia’s Murchison region.

  • As per the MoU, both companies with explore investment and off-take opportunities to fast-track development of the Project towards a Final Investment Decision (FID) in 2026, with  estimated initial expenditure of project i.e. at AUD 1.7 billion (USD 1.1 billion).

Joint Collaborative Efforts: The MoU also outlines collaborative workstreams such as co-engineering to optimize product specifications for Kutch Coppers’ downstream facilities; joint Procurement to fast-track delivery; and initiatives using the India-Australia Free Trade Agreement (FTA) to promote cross-border resource development and workforce skilling.

Hurun India Philanthropy List 2025: HCL Tech Founder Shiv Nadar tops the list with Rs.2,708 cr donationIn November 2025, the 12th edition of the Hurun India Philanthropy list has been released by the EdelGive Foundation in partnership with Hurun India, in which Shiv Nadar (80) and his family retained the title of India’s Most Generous donors for the fourth time in five years.

  • As per the report, Shiv Nadar, founder-chairman of HCL Technologies, donated Rs 2,708 crore (cr) during Financial Year 2024-25 (FY25), averaging over Rs 7.4 cr every day, a 26% increase from the previous year.
  • Mukesh Ambani and family ranked second with Rs.626 crore in donations, up 54% year-on-year, followed by the Bajaj family at Rs.446 crore, marking a 27% increase.

About the Hurun India Philanthropy List 2025
Donation FY25: The Hurun India Philanthropy list 2025 measures the donations by the value of their cash or cash equivalents from 1st April 2024 to 31st March 2025.
Threshold: The threshold for entering the top 10 philanthropists has more than doubled to Rs 173 cr from Rs 74 cr in 2020, while the bar for the top 25 has tripled since 2014 to Rs 70 cr.
Total Philanthropists: The 2025 list features 191 philanthropists, who cumulatively donated Rs 10,380 cr, up by 85% compared to three years ago.

  • The top 10 philanthropists together contributed Rs 5,834 cr, accounting for 56% of total giving and top 25 alone contributed Rs 50,000 cr in the same period.

Other Top 10 Corporate Donors: Kumar Mangalam Birla and family ranked fourth with Rs.440 crore, followed by Gautam Adani and family in fifth place with Rs.386 crore.

  • The top 10 also includes Nandan Nilekani (Rs.365 crore), Hinduja family (Rs.298 crore), Rohini Nilekani (Rs.204 crore), Sudhir & Samir Mehta (Rs.189 crore), and Cyrus & Adar Poonawalla (Rs.173 crore).

New Entrants: 12 new philanthropists joined the 2025 list, led by Venu Srinivasan of TVS Motor as the most generous debutant at Rs 20 cr.

  • Ranjan Pai of Manipal Group donated Rs.160 crore, joining the Rs.100-crore club and ranking among India’s top individual philanthropists.

Trend: Education remains the most favoured cause, attracting Rs 4,166 cr from 107 philanthropists, followed by healthcare with a total amount of Rs 971 cr as donation.

M&M Sold Entire 3.45% Stake in RBL Bank Via Rs 682 Crore Block Deal
In November 2025, Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) Limited, the flagship company of Mahindra Group, has sold its entire 3.45% of  stakes(2.11 crore equity shares) in RBL Bank (formerly known as in Ratnakar Bank Limited), Indian private sector bank, through a block deal valued at Rs 682 crore.

  • Now, this marks the complete exit of M&M Ltd from the private lender after its little over a year investment.

Indian Navy Commissions Indigenously-Built SVL Class Ship ‘INS Ikshak’ in KochiOn 6th November 2025, the Indian Navy (IN) commissioned Indian Naval Ship (INS) Ikshak (Yard 3027), the third indigenously built Survey Vessel (Large) (SVL) class, at the Southern Naval Command (SNC), in Kochi, Kerala, in a ceremony presided over by Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS).

  • Ikshak is the first SVL-class ship to be based at the SNC, the tenth IN platform commissioned in 2025 and the 102nd ship steered by the IN’s Warship Design Bureau (WDB).
  • Ikshak, built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) Limited, Kolkata (West Bengal, WB)), under a contract signed with the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in October 2018.

About Indian Naval Ship (INS) Ikshak:
Meaning: The name ‘Ikshak’ is derived from the Sanskrit word for “Guide”, symbolising the vessel’s mission to chart uncharted waters and ensure safe navigation.
Supervision: Directorate of Ship Production (DSP)and Warship Overseeing Team (WOT), Kolkata, WB.
Indigenisation: Over 80% indigenous content, developed in collaboration with Indian Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), supporting the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

India Successfully Demonstrates 500-km Quantum-Based Network for Digitally Secure CommunicationsIn November 2025, Bangalore-based quantum technology startup QNu Labs Pvt. Ltd., supported by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) under the National Quantum Mission (NQM), successfully demonstrated India’s first extensive Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) network stretching over 500 kilometers.

  • This milestone achievement was announced at the Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC) 2025, signaling a major advancement in the country’s quantum-secure digital communications.

Support From: The test-bed fiber network was specially engineered and facilitated by the Indian Army’s Southern Command Signals in the Rajasthan sector, including selective access and secured nodes.
Funded by:  The project was funded through the I-Hub Quantum Technology Foundation, a Technology Innovation Hub under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NMICPS) hosted at IISER (Indian Institute of Science Education and Research) Pune.
Collaborative Innovation: The initiative exemplifies the Synergy of Technology, Research, Industry, and Defence Ecosystem (STRIDE), showcasing collaborative innovation between academia, industry, and defence sectors.
Indigenous Quantum Technology Development:
Demonstration by the company:  QNu Labs demonstrated the Quantum Random Number Generator System in Package (QSIP), a technology providing quantum-certified randomness essential for secure cryptographic algorithms.

  • The network also demonstrated Quantum Random Number Generation (QRNG) and Quantum Secure Authentication, enhancing security in data exchange and authentication processes.

What is Quantum Key Distribution (QKD)?
Communication Technology: Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) is a next-generation communication technology that uses the principles of quantum mechanics to securely exchange encryption keys between two users.
Security provided: Information is transmitted through photons which are tiny particles of light and any interception(hacking) attempt changes their quantum state, immediately alerting both parties.
Virtually Safe Encryption: This ensures virtually unbreakable encryption, even against quantum computers, making QKD the foundation of quantum-safe communication systems.
India joins Global Quantum Leaders: The successful 500 km demonstration positions India among the few global leaders, including the United States, China, and Japan, capable of deploying long-distance quantum-secure networks.

137th Birth Anniversary of CV Raman – 7th November 2025On 7th November 2025, India commemorates the 137th birth anniversary of the eminent physicist Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata(C.V) Raman, widely known as Dr. C. V. Raman, for his remarkable contributions to the study of light scattering.

  • He was the first Indian physicist to win the 1930 Nobel Prize in Physics for discovering the Raman Effect, which explains the scattering of light by molecules.
