On October 16, 2025, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi visited Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh(AP), to inaugurate, lay foundation stones, and dedicate multiple development projects worth approximately Rs.13,430 crore to the nation.

Overview: PM Narendra Modi inaugurated, laid foundation stones, and dedicated several development projects across sectors including industry, power, roads, railways, defence, and petroleum & natural gas.
Key Dignitaries: Nara (N.) Power:
Transmission System: During his visit, PM Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the transmission system strengthening at Kurnool-III Pooling Station, at an estimated cost of more than Rs 2,880 crore.
- This new project includes the construction of a 765 Kilo-Volt (KV) double-circuit Kurnool-III Pooling Station-Chilakaluripeta transmission line.
Industry:
Two New Industrial Areas: He also laid the foundation stones for two new industrial areas in the state i.e. Orvakal Industrial Area (in Kurnool) and Kopparthy Industrial Area (in Kadapa, AP).
Investment: Both these industrial areas will be established with a total investment of over Rs 4,920 crore.
Developed by: These new industrial areas will be developed jointly by National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT) and Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Limited (APIIC).
Road and Highway (NH):
Greenfield Highway: He also laid the foundation for a 6-lane greenfield highway from Sabbavaram to Sheelanagar, to be constructed at a cost of over Rs.960 crore.
6 Road Projects: He inaugurated 6 road projects with a total investment of Rs 1,140 crore. These road projects include:
- 4-laning of the Pileru-Kalur section;
- Widening from Kadapa/Nellore border to CS Puram;
- The 4-lane Rail Over Bridge (ROB) between Gudivada and Nujella Railway Stations on National Highway(NH)-165;
- Major Bridge across Papagni river on NH-716;
- Kanigiri Bypass on NH-565;
- Improvement of the bypassed section in N. Gundlapalli Town on NH-544DD.
Railway Sector:
Total Cost: He laid the foundation stone and inaugurated various railways projects worth over Rs 1,200 crore in AP.
Projects: Kothavalasa-Vizianagaram Fourth Railway Line and the Rail Flyover between Pendurthi and Simhachalam North.
- In addition to these projects, he also inaugurated the doubling of the Kottavalasa-Boddavara section and the Shimiliguda-Gorapur section.
Energy Sector:
Srikakulam-Angul Natural Gas Pipeline: During his visit, PM Narendra Modi inaugurated 422 km-long Srikakulam-Angul Natural Gas Pipeline project of Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) India Limited.
- The project was built at a cost of around Rs 1,730 crore, spanning around 124 km in AP and remaining 298 km in Odisha.
60 TMTPA LPG Bottling Plant: He also inaugurated 60 Thousand Metric Tonnes per Annum (TMTPA) Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) bottling plant of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), in Chittoor district of AP.
- The plant, set up at an investment of around Rs 200 crore, is expected to serve over 7.2 lakh customers through 80 distributors across 4 districts of AP, 2 districts of Tamil Nadu (TN), and 1 district of Karnataka.
Defence Manufacturing:
Advanced Night Vision Product Factory: During the visit, PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the Advanced Night Vision Products Factory at Nimmaluru in Krishna district, AP.
- This newly inaugurated factory was established by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) at an investment of around Rs 360 crore.
