PM Modi unveils multiple youth-focused initiatives worth over Rs 62 thousand crore from DelhiIn October 2025, the Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi unveiled various youth-focused initiatives worth more than Rs. 62,000 crore (cr) at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.
- The programme also featured the Kaushal Deekshant Samaroh, felicitating 46 All-India ITI (Industrial Training Institutes) toppers under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MoSD&E).
- The PM also launched PM-SETU (Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs), a centrally sponsored scheme (CSS) with an investment of Rs. 60,000 cr.
Key Highlights
Skill Labs: The PM will inaugurate 1,200 Vocational Skill Labs established in 400 Navodaya Vidyalayas and 200 Eklavya Model Residential Schools across 34 States and Union Territories (UTs).
- These labs will equip students, including those in remote and tribal areas, with hands-on training in 12 high-demand sectors.
- The project also involves the training of 1,200 vocational teachers to deliver industry-relevant learning and create an early foundation for employability.
India-EFTA TEPA Came into Force; with USD 100 billion Investment Commitment and USD 1 Million Direct JobsThe Historic Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) between India and European Free Trade Association (EFTA) bloc which comprises countries namely, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein, was officially came into force on October 01, 2025 during the Prosperity Summit held in New Delhi, Delhi.
- The Prosperity Summit was hosted by Union Minister Piyush Goyal, Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI).
- TEPA marks India’s 1st ever Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with 4 developed European nations.
About India-EFTA TEPA:
Background: The agreement was originally signed on March 10, 2024 between MoCI, Government of India (GoI) and EFTA bloc in New Delhi, Delhi.
- The agreement was finalized after 21 rounds of negotiations, which started in 2008.
Key Targets: EFTA has pledged to attract foreign direct investments worth USD 100 billion in India in the next 15 years.
- Also, the agreement has the potential to generate 1 million direct jobs in India, through such investments.
Market Access for Goods: EFTA offers 92.2% of its tariff lines which includes 99.6% of India’s exports.
- Also, EFTA’s market access covers 100% of non-agricultural products and tariff concessions on Processed Agricultural Products (PAPs).
- Similarly, India offers 82.7% of its tariff lines which covers 95.3% of EFTA exports.
Union Minister Amit Shah Inaugurates India’s First Cooperative Multi-Feed CBG & Potash Granule Project in MaharashtraOn October 5, 2025, Union Minister Amit Shah, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and Ministry of Cooperation, inaugurated India’s first cooperative multi-feed Compressed Biogas (CBG) plant and Potash Granule production facility at the Maharshi Shankarrao Kolhe Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Limited, a cooperative sugar Factory, in Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra.
- Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister (CM) of Maharashtra; Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, Deputy CMs of Maharashtra; Union Minister of State (MoS) Murlidhar Mohol, Ministry of Cooperation, and others were also present at the event.
- The move aligns with the initiative of Government of India (GoI) such as “Waste to Wealth” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat”.

Capacity: The plant utilizes multi-feed bio-gasification technology combined with production of spray-drying potash, enabling the generation of about 12 tonnes of CBG and 75 tonnes of potash granules per day from jaggery/molasses.
By-Products: The facility utilizes sugarcane by-products such as press mud, molasses, filter cake, and jaggery residues as feedstock.
CBG & Bio-Potash Production: The cooperative sugar factory collects organic waste like press mud, spent wash, and molasses as feedstock for biogas.
- Through anaerobic digestion, this feedstock generates biogas, which is purified and compressed into CBG, while the leftover digestate is spray-dried to produce bio-potash granules for organic fertilizer.

During his visit, Union Minister Amit Shah unveiled the statues of Padma Shri Dr. Vithalrao Eknathrao Vikhe Patil and his son Padma Bhushan Balasaheb Vikhe Patil, also known as Eknathrao Vithalrao, in Ahilyanagar, honouring their contributions to the cooperative movement and public service.

Govt Approved Mitigation, Recovery and Reconstruction Projects worth over Rs 4,600 Crore across 9 StatesIn October 2025, A High-Level Committee (HLC) chaired by Union Minister Amit Shah, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), has approved the number of mitigation, recovery and reconstruction projects worth Rs 4645.60 crore for 9 states including Assam, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh (MP), Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh (UP), Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh (AP).
- The projects will be financed through the National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF), reflecting the government’s focus on strengthening disaster preparedness nationwide.
Key Details of Projects Approved by HLC:
Restoration and Rejuvenation of Wetlands: The HLC has approved a plan for the restoration and rejuvenation of wetlands for Assam, with total budget outlay of Rs 692.05 crore.
Phase-II of UFRMP: The HLC has approved a total budget outlay of Rs 2,444.42 crore for Phase-II of UFRMP that will be funded from the NDMF.
- The programme will be implemented in 11 cities namely, Bhopal (MP), Bhubaneswar (Odisha), Guwahati (Assam), Jaipur (Rajasthan), Kanpur (UP), Patna (Bihar), Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Trivandrum (Kerala), Vishakhapatnam (AP), Indore (MP) and Lucknow (UP).
Flood Mitigation Projects: The HLC has also approved a flood mitigation programme for Guwahati(Assam)with a total budget of Rs 200 crore, of which the centre government will contribute Rs 180 crore as its share from NDMF.
Financial Assistance: The HLC also approved financial assistance of Rs 1270.788 crore and Rs 260.56 crore to states of Assam and Kerala, respectively, for recovery and reconstruction activities/plan for the states due to flood/landslide incident of 2022 and Wayanad landslide-2024.

India-UK Bilateral Maritime Exercise ‘KONKAN-2025’ Commences Off India’s Western CoastIn October 2025, the India Navy (IN) and the Royal Navy (RN) of the United Kingdom (UK), have initiated the bilateral maritime exercise ‘KONKAN-2025’ off India’s western coast.
- The Exercise KONKAN-25, scheduled from October 5 to 12, 2025, is being conducted in two phases: the Harbour Phase and the Sea Phase.
- The 2025 edition marks the first time India, and the UK have deployed their full Carrier Strike Groups (CSGs) for a joint maritime exercise.
Exercise KONKAN-2025:
Aim: To enhance interoperability, mutual understanding, and maritime security cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
Naval Assets: Indian Naval Ship (INS) Vikrant, the flagship of its Carrier Battle Group along with associated surface ships, submarines, and aviation assets. Representing UK, Her Majesty’s Ship (HMS) Prince of Wales of UK led its CSG 2025 with Royal Navy destroyers, frigates, and support vessels.
- For the first time, assets from Norway and Japan are participating in KONKAN.
Harbour Phase: It was held from October 5 to 8, 2025, with a focus on professional, cultural, and operational exchanges, including cross-deck visits between ships of IN and RN, joint sports fixtures, and cultural engagements.

About Cerebral Palsy:
Disorder: It is a neurological disorder that affects movement, posture, and muscle coordination, caused by damage to the developing brain, usually before birth (Prenatal), during birth (Perinatal), or shortly after birth (Postnatal).
Types: It includes Spastic Cerebral Palsy, Dyskinetic Cerebral Palsy, Ataxic Cerebral Palsy, Mixed Cerebral Palsy, and Hypotonic Cerebral Palsy.
Effects: Among the individuals affected by CP, 75% experience chronic pain, 33% cannot walk, 33% have hip displacement, 25% cannot verbally communicate, and 6% are tube-fed.
- The individuals diagnosed with CP have co-occuring conditions, including over 50% have intellectual impairment, 25% have epilepsy, 25% have behaviour disorder, 20% have a sleep disorder, 10% have impaired vision, 7% have autism, and 5% have impaired hearing.
Note: As per the Cerebral Palsy Alliance Research Foundation (CPARF), Approximately 18 million people of all ages have CP worldwide.

On October 04, 2025, Union Minister Amit Shah, Ministry of Home Affairs(MHA), launched the Goa government’s flagship welfare programme ‘Mhaje Ghar Yojana(My Home Scheme)’ at an event held at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium at Taleigao, Goa.
