PM Modi unveils multiple youth-focused initiatives worth over Rs 62 thousand crore from DelhiIn October 2025, the Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi unveiled various youth-focused initiatives worth more than Rs. 62,000 crore (cr) at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

• The programme also featured the Kaushal Deekshant Samaroh, felicitating 46 All-India ITI (Industrial Training Institutes) toppers under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MoSD&E).
• The PM also launched PM-SETU (Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs), a centrally sponsored scheme (CSS) with an investment of Rs. 60,000 cr.

Key Highlights

Skill Labs: The PM will inaugurate 1,200 Vocational Skill Labs established in 400 Navodaya Vidyalayas and 200 Eklavya Model Residential Schools across 34 States and Union Territories (UTs).

• These labs will equip students, including those in remote and tribal areas, with hands-on training in 12 high-demand sectors.
• The project also involves the training of 1,200 vocational teachers to deliver industry-relevant learning and create an early foundation for employability.

India-EFTA TEPA Came into Force; with USD 100 billion Investment Commitment and USD 1 Million Direct JobsThe Historic Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) between India and European Free Trade Association (EFTA) bloc which comprises countries  namely, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein, was officially came into force on October 01, 2025 during the Prosperity Summit held in New Delhi, Delhi.

• The Prosperity Summit was hosted by Union Minister Piyush Goyal, Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI).
• TEPA marks India’s 1st ever Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with 4 developed European nations.

About India-EFTA TEPA:
Background: The agreement was originally signed on March 10, 2024 between MoCI, Government of India (GoI) and EFTA bloc in New Delhi, Delhi.

• The agreement was finalized after 21 rounds of negotiations, which started in 2008.

Key Targets: EFTA has pledged to attract foreign direct investments worth USD 100 billion in India in the next 15 years.

• Also, the agreement has the potential to generate 1 million direct jobs in India, through such investments.

Market Access for Goods: EFTA offers 92.2% of its tariff lines which includes 99.6% of India’s exports.

• Also, EFTA’s market access covers 100% of non-agricultural products and tariff concessions on Processed Agricultural Products (PAPs).
• Similarly, India offers 82.7% of its tariff lines which covers 95.3% of EFTA exports.

Union Minister Amit Shah Inaugurates India’s First Cooperative Multi-Feed CBG & Potash Granule Project in MaharashtraOn October 5, 2025, Union Minister Amit Shah, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and Ministry of Cooperation, inaugurated India’s first cooperative multi-feed Compressed Biogas (CBG) plant and Potash Granule production facility at the Maharshi Shankarrao Kolhe Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Limited, a cooperative sugar Factory, in Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra.

• Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister (CM) of Maharashtra; Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, Deputy CMs of Maharashtra; Union Minister of State (MoS) Murlidhar Mohol, Ministry of Cooperation, and others were also present at the event.
• The move aligns with the initiative of Government of India (GoI) such as “Waste to Wealth” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat”.

CBG & Potash Granule Production Facility:
Budget: The initiative established with the support of the National Cooperative Development Cooperation (NCDC), Ministry of Cooperation, has been developed with a budget outlay of approximately Rs.55 crores.

• Under NCDC, GOI will extend support to 15 selected sugar mills.

Capacity: The plant utilizes multi-feed bio-gasification technology combined with production of spray-drying potash, enabling the generation of about 12 tonnes of CBG and 75 tonnes of potash granules per day  from jaggery/molasses.
By-Products: The facility utilizes sugarcane by-products such as press mud, molasses, filter cake, and jaggery residues as feedstock.
CBG & Bio-Potash Production: The cooperative sugar factory collects organic waste like press mud, spent wash, and molasses as feedstock for biogas.

• Through anaerobic digestion, this feedstock generates biogas, which is purified and compressed into CBG, while the leftover digestate is spray-dried to produce bio-potash granules for organic fertilizer.

Statues of Dr.Vithalrao Vikhe Patil & Balasaheb Vikhe Patil unveiled:
During his visit, Union Minister Amit Shah unveiled the statues of Padma Shri Dr. Vithalrao Eknathrao Vikhe Patil and his son Padma Bhushan Balasaheb Vikhe Patil, also known as Eknathrao Vithalrao, in Ahilyanagar, honouring their contributions to the cooperative movement and public service.

• In 1961, Dr. Vithalrao Eknathrao Vikhe Patil was conferred Padma Shri in the field of Trade & Industry.
• In 2010, Balasaheb Vikhe Patil was conferred with Padma Bhushan in recognition of his contributions in the field of Social Work.

Govt Approved Mitigation, Recovery and Reconstruction Projects worth over Rs 4,600 Crore across 9 StatesIn October 2025, A High-Level Committee (HLC) chaired by Union Minister Amit Shah, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), has approved the number of mitigation, recovery and reconstruction projects worth Rs 4645.60 crore for 9 states including Assam, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh (MP), Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh (UP), Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh (AP).

• The projects will be financed through the National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF), reflecting the government’s focus on strengthening disaster preparedness nationwide.

Key Details of Projects Approved by HLC:
Restoration and Rejuvenation of Wetlands: The HLC has approved a plan for the restoration and rejuvenation of wetlands for Assam, with total budget outlay of Rs 692.05 crore.
Phase-II of UFRMP: The HLC has approved a total budget outlay of Rs 2,444.42 crore for Phase-II of UFRMP that will be funded from the NDMF.

• The programme  will be implemented in 11 cities namely, Bhopal (MP), Bhubaneswar (Odisha), Guwahati (Assam), Jaipur (Rajasthan), Kanpur (UP), Patna (Bihar), Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Trivandrum (Kerala), Vishakhapatnam (AP), Indore (MP) and Lucknow (UP).

Flood Mitigation Projects: The HLC has also approved a flood mitigation programme for Guwahati(Assam)with a total budget of Rs 200 crore, of which the centre government will contribute Rs 180 crore as its share from NDMF.
Financial Assistance: The HLC also approved financial assistance of Rs 1270.788 crore and Rs 260.56 crore to states of Assam and Kerala, respectively, for recovery and reconstruction activities/plan for the states due to flood/landslide incident of 2022 and Wayanad landslide-2024.

India-UK Bilateral Maritime Exercise ‘KONKAN-2025’ Commences Off India’s Western CoastIn October 2025, the India Navy (IN) and the Royal Navy (RN) of the United Kingdom (UK), have initiated the bilateral maritime exercise ‘KONKAN-2025’ off India’s western coast.

• The Exercise KONKAN-25, scheduled from October 5 to 12, 2025, is being conducted in two phases: the Harbour Phase and the Sea Phase.
• The 2025 edition marks the first time India, and the UK have deployed their full Carrier Strike Groups (CSGs) for a joint maritime exercise.

Exercise KONKAN-2025:
Aim: To enhance interoperability, mutual understanding, and maritime security cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
Naval Assets: Indian Naval Ship (INS) Vikrant, the flagship of its Carrier Battle Group along with associated surface ships, submarines, and aviation assets. Representing UK, Her Majesty’s Ship (HMS) Prince of Wales of UK led its CSG 2025 with Royal Navy destroyers, frigates, and support vessels.

• For the first time, assets from Norway and Japan are participating in KONKAN.

Harbour Phase: It was held from October 5 to 8, 2025, with a focus on professional, cultural, and operational exchanges, including cross-deck visits between ships of IN and RN, joint sports fixtures, and cultural engagements.
Sea Phase: It was held from October 9 to 12, 2025, emphasizing operational drills and combat readiness. It includes Anti-Air Warfare (AAW) for coordinated defence against aerial threats, Anti-Surface Warfare (ASuW), focusing on ship-to-ship tactical operations, and Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) involving submarine detection and neutralization.

BRO Builds World’s Highest Motorable Road at 19,400 ft in Ladakh
In October 2025, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), under Project Himank, constructed the world’s highest motorable road at Mig La Pass near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) at an altitude of 19,400 feet, surpassing its own previous Guinness World Record at Umling La Pass (19,024 feet) in Ladakh, set in 2021.

About Mig La Road:
Leadership: Led by Brigadier Vishal Srivastava, Chief Engineer of Project Himank.
Alignment: Part of the Likaru–Mig La–Fukche road, connecting the Hanle region to Fukche village near the Indo-China border.
Strategic Importance: The road provides a third vital axis to Fukche, significantly strengthening India’s border logistics, troop mobility, and defense infrastructure in eastern Ladakh
Engineering Achievement: Built under extreme conditions of low oxygen, freezing temperatures, and rugged terrain, the road showcases BRO’s engineering excellence
Enhanced Connectivity: The road improves access for remote villages like Hanle and Fukche, linking them more effectively to the region.

TEC Signs MoU with IIIT Naya Raipur to Advance Next-Generation Telecom-Technologies
In October 2025, the Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) under the Department of Telecommunications (DoT),Ministry of Communication, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Naya Raipur(Chhattisgarh) to jointly pursue research, innovation, and standardization in next-generation telecommunications technologies.

Key Details of MoU:
Aim: The partnership also aims to promote digital inclusion by developing affordable, interoperable, and vendor-neutral solutions suited to India’s diverse connectivity needs.
Key Areas of Collaboration: It concentrates on providing Open Radio Access Network (RAN) and Network Disaggregation; Cognitive Radio and Spectrum Sharing; 5G / 6G /Internet of Things(IoT) Internet Speed Frameworks; and Standardization Contributions of Telecom Technologies.

On October 04, 2025, The .Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman launched the nationwide ‘Aapki Punji Aapka Adhikar’ campaign from Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

About the campaign:
Aim: The campaign aims to facilitate the speedy settlement of unclaimed financial assets lying .across various sectors of the financial system.
Will be conducted on: To ensure wide participation, the campaign will be conducted across all States and Union Territories during October—December 2025.

Shimon Sakaguchi, Mary E. Brunkow, Fred Ramsdell Win Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2025On October 6, 2025, Shimon Sakaguchi, a Japanese Immunologist, Mary E. Brunkow, an American molecular biologist and immunologist, Fred Ramsdell, an American immunologist, are declared as the winners of Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2025 by the Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden.

• They are recognized for their discoveries concerning peripheral immune tolerance that prevents the immune system from harming the body.

Medal of Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine: The medal, designed by Swedish sculptor and engraver Erik Lindberg, depicts Genius of Medicine holding an open book in her lap, collecting the water pouring out from a rock to quench a girl’s thirst.

GSL’s FPV ‘ICGS Akshar’ Officially Commissioned at Karaikal, PuducherryIn October 2025, the Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Akshar, 2nd of 8th Adamya–class Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs), was officially commissioned in the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) at Karaikal in the Union Territory (UT) of Puducherry.

• It was officially commissioned by Dipti Mohil Chawla, Additional Secretary of Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS) under the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in the presence of Additional Director General (ADG) Donny Michael, Commander of Coast Guard Eastern Seaboard; along with senior dignitaries.

About ICGS Akshar:
Name Inspired from: The ship name is derived from Sanskrit word ‘Akshar’, which means ‘imperishable’, symbolizing the ICG’s steadfast resolve to ensure safe, secure, and clean seas.
Developed by: The newly commissioned ship was designed and developed indigenously by Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL).
Local Content: 51-metre(m)-long ICGS Akshar has been designed with more than 60% local content, which strengthens India maritime capabilities under the Government of India (GoI)’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.
Key Specifications: The ship weighs nearly 320 tonnes, is powered by two 3,000 KiloWatt (KW) diesel engines which enable a maximum speed of 27 knots, with an endurance speed of 1,500 nautical miles.
Key Features: The ship is equipped with indigenously developed two Controllable Pitch Propellers (CPP) and gear boxes, which offers superior maneuverability, operational flexibility and enhanced performance at sea.

• It also features an Integrated Bridge System (IBS), an Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS), and Automated Power Management System (APMS), enhancing operational efficiency and mission readiness.

Ammunition: Further, the ship’s weaponry includes a 30 millimeter (mm) CRN-91 gun and two 12.7 mm Stabilized Remote-Controlled Guns (SRCGs) with advanced fire-control systems.
Administrative Control: ICGS Akshar based at Karaikal, under the administrative and operational control of Commander Coast Guard Region (East), Chennai(Tamil Nadu, TN). It is commanded by Commandant (JG) Subhendu Chakraborty with 5 officers and 33 personnel.

• The ship will undertake maritime surveillance, coastal security and law enforcement operations.

Mukesh Nelavalli: The current junior world champion, Mukesh Nelavalli, earned gold at the ISSF Junior World Cup 2025 in New Delhi in the men’s 25-meter pistol event.

Adoption : On October 5, 1966, the International Labour Organization (ILO), and UNESCO adopted the Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers in Paris(France), which was later strengthened in 1997 with a new recommendation addressing the rights and working conditions of higher education faculty.
Inception: WTD was first observed on October 5, 1994, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the 1966 conference.
Global Partnership: WTD is jointly organized by UNESCO in collaboration with the ILO, United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and Education International (EI).

Theme: The theme of World Cerebral Palsy Day is “Unique and United”, emphasizing the importance of recognizing each person’s individuality while fostering unity within the CP community.
Background: The Cerebral Palsy Alliance declared 6th October as WCPD in 2012.WCPD began with a small campaign called “Change My World in One Minute”, initiated by the Cerebral Palsy Alliance in Australia.
About Cerebral Palsy:
Disorder: It is a neurological disorder that affects movement, posture, and muscle coordination, caused by damage to the developing brain, usually before birth (Prenatal), during birth (Perinatal), or shortly after birth (Postnatal).
Types: It includes Spastic Cerebral Palsy, Dyskinetic Cerebral Palsy, Ataxic Cerebral Palsy, Mixed Cerebral Palsy, and Hypotonic Cerebral Palsy.
Effects: Among the individuals affected by CP, 75% experience chronic pain, 33% cannot walk, 33% have hip displacement, 25% cannot verbally communicate, and 6% are tube-fed.

• The individuals diagnosed with CP have co-occuring conditions, including over 50% have intellectual impairment, 25% have epilepsy, 25% have behaviour disorder, 20% have a sleep disorder, 10% have impaired vision, 7% have autism, and 5% have impaired hearing.

Note: As per the Cerebral Palsy Alliance Research Foundation (CPARF), Approximately 18 million people of all ages have CP worldwide.

Union Minister Amit Shah launches ‘Mhaje Ghar Yojana’ to grant Ownership Rights to Residents
On October 04, 2025, Union Minister Amit Shah, Ministry of Home Affairs(MHA), launched the Goa government’s flagship welfare programme ‘Mhaje Ghar Yojana(My Home Scheme)’ at an event held at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium at Taleigao, Goa.

• Goa Chief Minister (CM) Dr. Pramod Sawant, Union Minister of State(MoS)Shripad Naik, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and other dignitaries were present at the event.

About Mhaje Ghar Yojana:
Aim: The scheme aims to regularize houses built on government and community lands and to grant ownership rights to long-time residents.
Legal Regularisation: The scheme consolidates and streamlines multiple legal provisions, including the Goa Land Revenue Code, the Goa Regularisation of Unauthorized Constructions Act, and the Forest Rights Act, into a single law, simplifying the process for beneficiaries.
Timeline: Under the Mhaje Ghar Yojana, the home ownership process will be completed within six months.
Other Inaugurations:
Development Projects: Union Minister Amit Shah inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 21 development projects worth Rs.2,452 crore, covering infrastructure and tourism initiatives.
Key Infrastructure Works: Projects include the redevelopment of Junta House, government quarters at St. Inez, construction of a new circuit house at Altinho, Panaji, and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaja Museum at Farmagudi, Goa.
Public Safety Initiatives: Launched initiatives include e-witness rooms for North and South Goa, the Goa Police Mobile App and the 1930 Cyber Helpline Cloud Call Centre.
Education & Recreation Facilities: The new Dental College Hostel at Bambolim and the rejuvenated Campal Green Space in Panaji were also inaugurated.
Forensic & Milestone Initiatives: He also flagged off four Forensic Science vans and released a book commemorating five years of the Swayampurna Goa initiative.
