UPSC Entered 100th Year of Service :  Unveiled New Logo and Centenary Emblem; Launched ‘My UPSC Interview’ Portal

On October 1, 2025, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) entered its centenary(100) year, since its establishment on October 1, 1926, a landmark milestone in India’s civil services.

  • As part of its centenary celebrations, Dr. Ajay Kumar, Chairman of UPSC has unveiled new logo and centenary logo and launched the dedicated anecdote portal ‘My UPSC Interview: From Dream to Reality’;, on the occasion of 99th foundation day celebrations of UPSC held in New Delhi, Delhi.

About New Logo and Centenary Emblem:

New Logo: The new logo of UPSC features national emblem at its centre, representing authority and service to the nation. It is surrounded by a wreathen of banyan leaves which symbolizes wisdom and resilience.

  • The logo reinforces the ethos of accountability and duty, is anchored by a ribbon inscribed with ‘Sangh Lok Seva in ‘Hindi’ language.

Centenary Logo: The centenary logo, designed to represent continuity and transformation was also unveiled at the event.

  • The logo features wave motif which signifies the UPSC’s journey over a century: progressive, enduring, and adaptive, culminating in the final ‘0’ of ‘100’, where the UPSC logo rests.

About My UPSC Interview: From Dream to Reality:

Purpose: Through this new portal, UPSC invites civil servants, both serving and retired, to share their experiences of appearing before the UPSC Interview Board.

Eligible Applicants: Only Members (either serving or retired) of various services or organisations under the Government of India (GoI), who have appeared in the UPSC Civil Services Examination and other exams (Interview/Personality Test in any year), are eligible to submit their applications for this initiative.

Format for Submission of Experiences: Eligible participants should write their experiences in first person in English or Hindi (typed only), and should be of at least 250 words and not more than 2000 words.

Last Submission Date: The interested individuals are required to submit their applications by December 31, 2025.

  • The submissions will cover the defining moments of candidates’ journeys into public service and compilation of selected entries will be published during its 100th year in 2026.

Background of UPSC:

Pre-Independence Establishment: On October 01 1926, the British Government established the Public Service Commission (PSC), chaired y Sir Ross Barker, under the provisions Government of India Act, 1919, following the recommendations of the Lee Commission (1924).

  • Later, PSC, established as an independent body for the recruitment of higher civil servants with limited powers was elevated to the Federal Service Commission (FSC) under the Government of India Act, 1935, giving Indians a greater administrative role.

Post-Independence: Following the adoption of Indian Constitution in 1950, UPSC assumed its current identity as an independent constitutional body under Article 315 to 323 in Part XIV of the constitution.
