PM Narendra Modi Inaugurates World Food India 2025 on September 25, 2025, in New Delhi, Delhi

On September 25, 2025, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi inaugurated World Food India 2025, a flagship global food event, organized by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), Government of India (GOI), scheduled from September 25 to 28, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, Delhi.

Highlights of the event:

Participation: The event witnessed participation from more than 21 countries, 21 States and Union Territories (UTs), 10 Central Ministries and 5 allied government organizations, more than 1700 exhibitors, over 500 international buyers, and representatives from over 100 countries.

Partner Countries: Countries such as New Zealand and Saudi Arabia have been designated as Partner Countries, and Japan, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Vietnam, and Russia participated as Focus Countries.

Focus States: It includes Andhra Pradesh (AP), Tamil Nadu (TN), Maharashtra, and Odisha.

Theme: The 4th edition of the World Food India was held under the theme “Processing for Prosperity”, highlighting the role of the food processing sector in driving value addition, enhancing farmer incomes, creating jobs, fostering innovation, and positioning India as a global hub.

Gold Sponsor: The Allana Group, a leading food and agribusiness conglomerate in India, announced its association with World Food India 2025 as Gold Sponsor.

  • As part of the initiative, Allana Group engaged with key stakeholders in the food ecosystem, including policymakers, investors, startups, and international delegates.

Core Focus Pillars of WFI 2025

MoUs signed by MoFPI:

With TCPL: During the event, Tata Consumer Products Limited (TCPL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MoFPI, to invest Rs.2,000 crores in India’s food processing sector over the next five years.

  • The MoU will help enhance production, strengthen supply chains, and introduce innovative, high-quality processed food products in domestic and international markets.

With Godrej Agrovet: Godrej Agrovet Private Limited (Godrej Agrovet) signed a non-binding MoU with the MoFPI, committing to invest Rs.960 crores to establish new manufacturing, processing, and research facilities.

Implementation: The MoU will enhance Godrej Agrovet’s capabilities in the oil palm and pet food sectors and the projects will be implemented across various states, including AP, Assam, Tripura, Telangana, and Maharashtra.

Aim: The MoU aims to strengthen the food processing and distribution capabilities of Godrej Agrovet, contributing to sustainable value creation across the supply chain and supporting rural development goals.

MoUs & Technology Transfer:

NIFTEM-K: National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management, Kundli (Haryana) (NIFTEM-K) signed MoUs with the following institutions:

  • Government of Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) Greater Noida (Uttar Pradesh, UP)
  • Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Imphal (Manipur)
  • Rejuvome Therapeutics, Bengaluru (Karnataka)
  • Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS), New Delhi (Delhi).

Technology Transfer: NIFTEM-K facilitated Technology Transfer (TT) from Saksham Anganwadi and Mission Poshan 2.0 technologies to Interlink Foods Private Limited and from Unfermented Mayo Technology to Jiwanmitra Nutraceuticals Private Limited, with an aim to strengthen the implementation of nutrition-focused programs and promote innovative food products.

NIFTEM-T: NIFTEM, Thanjavur (TN) (NIFTEM-T) signed MoUs with M/s Envirocare Labs Private Limited, Maharashtra, for placements and research, and with M/s Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), New Delhi, to establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Food Fortification.

  • It also signed a Memorandum of Association (MoA) with M/s Fruvetech Private Limited, New Delhi, a winner of the Start-Up Grand Challenge 3.0.

G2G Meeting: During the event, a government-to-government (G2G) meetings were held between India and representatives from New Zealand, Zimbabwe, and Uganda, with an aim to strengthen cooperation in agriculture and food processing globally.

Sessions: Focus states conducted dedicated sessions such as “Fish Tech for Fishers” Prosperity: Innovations in Processing and Value Addition, highlighting advancements in fisheries and value chain development.

World Food India Secured Rs.1.02 lakh Crore Investment: World Food India secured an investment of Rs.1.02 lakh crores through MoUs, with major contributions from Reliance Consumer Products Limited (RCPL) (Rs.40,000 crores), Coca-Cola Bottlers (Rs.25,760 crores), and Amul & Nestle, with an aim to generate over 64,000 direct jobs and more than 10 lakh indirect jobs across 18 states.

Global Food Regulators Summit 2025:

Launch of Logo & Brochure: On September 23, 2025, Union Minister Jagat Prakash (J.P) Nadda, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), unveiled the logo and brochure of the Global Food Regulators Summit (GFRS) 2025 at Nirman Bhawan in New Delhi, Delhi.

Theme: The summit, organized by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) under the guidance of MoHFW, was held under the theme “Evolving Food Systems- Yatha Annam Tatha Manah” from September 26 to 27, 2025, alongside the World Food India 2025.

Logo & Brochure: The logo incorporates the world map motif, emphasizing the global dimension of the summit. The brochure comprises theme, objectives, structure, and key features of GFRS 2025, and provides agenda, session, overviews, speaker panels, and timeline of the event.

Meeting of PM Modi & Dmitry Patrushev: During the event, PM Modi met with Dmitry Patrushev, Deputy PM of Russia, and discussed to enhance cooperation in areas such as Agriculture & Food Processing, Fertilizers Supply, Bilateral Trade, Technology & Investment, and Global Food Security.

24th India International Seafood Show:

Union Minister for Food Processing Industries, Chirag Paswan, inaugurated the mega trade fair 24th India International Seafood Show (IISS)by the Seafood Exporters Association of India (SEAI) – focusing on India’s growing seafood export potential and global market linkages. at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan.
