Sectors Covered: Agriculture, animal husbandry, handicrafts, tailoring, weaving, poultry farming, and other small enterprises.
Implementation: A community-driven model through Self-Help Groups (SHGs) resource persons, providing beneficiaries with skill training, market linkages via Gramin Haat-Bazaars, and financial integration through Bihar Jeevika Nidhi Credit Cooperative Society (Jeevika Nidhi).
Linkages: The initiative strengthens the Lakhpati Didi Campaign, aiming to support 3 crore women in earning over Rs. 1 lakh per annum across India.

Mahi Banswara Atomic Power Plant:
Overview: Inaugurated the Mahi Banswara Rajasthan Atomic Power Project (MBRAPP) worth Rs.42,000 crores at Napla village in Banswara, equipped with an installed capacity of 2,800 Megawatt (MW), consisting of four units of 700 MW each.
Developers: The project was developed by Anushakti Vidhyut Nigam Limited (ASHVINI), a Joint Venture (JV) between Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).
Power Transmission Projects:
He laid foundation stone for three major power transmission projects worth over Rs.13,180 crores under the Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) initiative of GOI.
RE Transmission projects: Laid foundation stone for the construction of a 765 Kilovolt (KV) transmission line from Beawar (Rajasthan) to Mandsaur (Madhya Pradesh, MP) and a 765 KV transmission line, connecting Sirohi (Rajasthan) to Mandsaur and Khandwa (MP).
Agriculture:
Overview: Virtually inaugurated Feeder Level Solarization (FLS) projects, with a total capacity of 3,517 MW, valued at over Rs.16,050 crores, across Rajasthan, Maharashtra, MP, and Karnataka.

RBI Revised Norms for Claims Settlement Related to Deceased Bank CustomersIn September 2025, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) issued revised norms for claims settlement of deceased customers’ bank accounts and lockers within the time frame of 15 days and prescribed compensation to nominees for delays in the settlement.
- These revised norms were issued under the ’RBI (Settlement of Claims in respect of Deceased Customers of Banks) Directions, 2025’.

Applicability: The revised instructions are applicable on the deposit accounts of a deceased customer, safe deposit locker and articles in safe custody by the deceased customer.
Claiming Process: RBI has clarified that a deposit account with nominee or where the account was opened with a survivorship clause, the outstanding balance will be paid to the nominee upon the death of the depositor.
Deposit Account without Nominee: In cases where deposit accounts are without nominee or survivorship clause, banks have been directed to settle the claims through a simplified procedure, where the aggregate amount payable is less than the threshold limit.
- However, if the aggregate amount is above the threshold limit, the banks have the authority to ask for additional documents like a succession certificate or a legal heir certificate.
Threshold Limit: RBI has set the threshold limit for deposit accounts i.e. Rs 5 lakh for co-operative banks and Rs 15 lakh for any other bank.
Timelines: For deposit accounts, it is mandatory for banks to settle claims within a time period not exceeding 15 calendar days from the date of receipt of all the required documents associated with the claim.
- In case of safe deposit locker or articles in safe custody, banks are required to contact claimants and set an inventory date within 15 days.
Penalty for Delay: In case of failure to comply with revised norms, the bank has been mandated to pay compensation in the form of interest at bank rate + 4% per annum for deposits.
- While, for claims related to safe deposit locker or articles in safe custody, the bank has been mandated to pay compensation to claimant(s) at the rate of Rs 5,000 for per day delay.
BOB Signs MoU with TPREL to Finance MSME Solar ProjectsOn September 26, 2025, Bank of Baroda (BOB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power Company Limited (Tata Power), to provide financial support to Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and Commercial & Industrial (C&I) customers for adoption of solar energy.
- The move enhances BOB’s capabilities, contributing to increased liquidity and efficiency in India’s bullion market.

Note: As of August 2025, TPREL has completed over 2.49 lakh rooftop solar installations, achieving cumulative capacity exceeding 3.6 Global Warming Potential (GWp).
IFSCA Approved BOB to operate as TCM on IIBX
International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) approved BOB to operate as Trading-Cum-Clearing Member (TCM) on the India International Bullion Exchange IFSC Limited (IIBX) at Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City).
- With this move, BOB is authorized to directly execute, clear, and settle bullion trades on IIBX for its clients and its own transactions.
Significance: BOB becomes the second Public Sector Bank (PSB) after the State Bank of India (SBI) to receive the status of TCM. The approval enables access for the international and domestic clients of BOB to gold and silver contracts directly.
About IIBX: It is India’s first international bullion exchange, established by Government of India (GOI) in July 2022, in Gandhinagar (Gujarat), to provide transparent, efficient, and globally competitive platform for bullion trading.

RBI Imposed Rs 2.7 Lakh Penalty on Muthoot FinCorp for Ombudsman Non-Compliance
In September 2025, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) imposed monetary penalty of Rs 2.7 lakh on Muthoot FinCorp Limited, flagship company of Muthoot Pappachan Group, India’s leading Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC), fails to comply with certain norms on ‘Internal Ombudsman’.
- The monetary penalty was imposed under the clause (b) of sub-section (1) of Section 58G read with clause (aa) of sub-section (5) of Section 58B of the RBI Act, 1934.

Venkataramani as AGI till September 30,2027On September 26,2025, The President of India and the Ministry of Law and Justice (MoL&J) have announced the re-appointment of Senior Advocate R.Venkataramani (75) as the Attorney General of India (AGI) for two more years , effective from October 1,2025 to September 30,2027.

Career: Venkataramani was born in Pondicherry on April 13, 1950, He enrolled as a lawyer in 1977 with the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and joined the chambers of veteran lawyer P.P. Rao at the Supreme Court in 1979.
Law Commission of India: He was appointed as a member of the Law Commission of India in 2010, and again for a further term in 2013.
Author: He published a volume of his poems titled Roses Without Thorns last year. Besides, he has authored several books on constitutional law and the law of torts, and collaborated with the Supreme Court of India in publishing a book on Supreme Court Practice and Procedure and the Restatement of Indian Law relating to Public Interest Litigation.
About the Attorney General of India (AGI):
Constitutional Value: The Attorney General is the highest law officer of the Union Government (UG) and serves as its principal legal advisor. Appointed by the President under Article 76(1) of the Constitution, the Attorney General holds office during the President’s pleasure on the recommendation of the Union Cabinet (UC).
- According to the article 76(4), There is no fixed tenure for the AGI
- Under article 88, the AG shall have the right to speak and take part in all the proceedings of Lok sabha and Rajya sabha including joint sitting of the Houses, and any committee of Parliament for which he is added as a member. He is not subjected to vote.

Indian Air Force Retires MiG-21 Fighter AircraftOn September 26, 2025, the Indian Air Force (IAF) officially retired its iconic (Mikoyan-Gurevich) MiG-21 fighter jets in a grand decommissioning ceremony at the Chandigarh Air Force Station (known as 12 Wing, AF), Chandigarh.
- The Russian-origin supersonic jets, inducted in 1963, served as the backbone of India’s air power for more than six decades (62 years) marking the end of an era in Indian military aviation.

In September 2025, Ministry of Law and Justice (MoL&J), Government of India (GoI) announced the appointed Justice Sujoy Paul as the Acting Chief Justice (CJ) of the Calcutta High Court (HC), following the elevation of Justice Soumen Sen as CJ of the Meghalaya HC.
- Under Article 223 of the Constitution of India (CoI), the President, Droupadi Murmu, has appointed an acting CJ of a HC.
